A few more with more light

So how did your installer not add a seam on the top edge of the bumper at the corner of the tail light? My car is being wrapped now and my installer who is very experienced said that he has to make one seam there. Can you take a close up image if you do have a seam? Thank you.

They did a poor job. Don't use my installer as an example. After I did my first hand wash about a week after this, I found a ton of half-ass corner cutting. Specifically the rear tail lights they cut a large gap out of them and didn't seam them together properly.

That corner right below the rear tail light is definitely going to need a seam, but a proper installer that aren't a pile of crap (yes I'm still very pissed about it all) would cut a very tight seam and then heat them closely to one another to almost make them imperceptible. My installer did not do that.

Honestly, I'm likely going to need to take it to someone that isn't incompetent next year when I have time and have the whole thing redone because of the crap work and corners that they cut. I threw it in another thread on here, but bottom line is that I wouldn't let that installer touch my car again and wouldn't recommend them to anyone. They can't even install tint properly, as I'm still dealing with a third round of them unable to fix basic bubbles and dust/fibers under the tint they installed.

I'm beyond livid with them, to put it lightly.

To your question though, yes there's going to need to be a seam there because of the curvature and the angle of that corner where the light recesses from the bumper. If your installer is good, I wouldn't worry too much.

Zoom in closely on the pic you linked and you can see the BS that my installer did if you look closely. It's a large/noticeable gap.

Wow thanks for the quick response! My frozen blue is currently being wrapped by my installer who has done 4 previous cars for me. I couldn’t see any seams in your photo, but maybe because the resolution isn’t high enough. I tried to zoom in all the way and increase the brightness, but still nothing.

My installer does top notch work because I’ve gone over all his jobs with a virtual magnifying glass. He had to put a seam on my Model Y trunk lid, but he joined them so tight together that I still have a hard time finding it.

I feel better now because he warned me about a seam there and at first I thought you didn’t have one and that there was a way to avoid it. Thank you.

That's one of many things I've found over the last few washes that really tick me off. They didn't fully wrap my mirrors either, the inner part by my windows are missing wrap, and a handful of other bs

Are most of your issues on the back area?

Are you going somewhere else for tint? I have a place off Manchester I’ve used for several vehicles if you’re interested. They did my Macan if you want to take a look some time.

I'm going to force them to fix the tint thing. I'm just considering the wrap a sunk cost. Nobody else sees all these issues except us, so I'm going to let it ride until probably the spring to have it redone elsewhere, but I'm going to make them keep doing the tint until they can get it right. The place off Manchester I think is the same one I normally used on prior cars. Unfortunately, I had the tint/wrap all done through the dealer as a part of the delivery. Lesson learned. I don't fault the dealer though.

Oh I see it now. Hard to tell what is reflection and what is the seam.
Yeah, I didn't even notice it when I took those pictures. I found all the issues during a hand wash a week and a half later. It's easy to overlook all the problems unless you know where they are, which is why nobody really notices it. It bothers me to all ends though since I've found them, mainly because it's just issues that were created because of poor execution or lack of care in the end result from the shop. :\

The fact that your shop gave you a heads up means they know what they are doing and they are straightforward. I'm sure it's going to turn out awesome for you.

My installer and I have become quite friendly now, and he knows I'm crazy anal. I notice everything, and you sound a bit like me! He wraps around all the edges, but sometimes this causes a problem because when he bends them over, sometimes they can lift a bit. But somehow when I take it back, he's able to use adhesive promoter to stick down any parts that have come up. Last time with my Model Y, I had to go back twice to have him glue down parts that popped back up.

Yeah, this shop didn't wrap around things. I have a 'butthole' circle around my charging port.
