:CWL::CWL::CWL: surely not!? The sports sound maybe, but not a fake ICE noise on an EV!? That's a bit cringe and not very Porsche!

When I was a young lad, back in 19**, we used clothes pegs to attach collectible football cards to our pedal bike mud guards, so that as the wheels spun, the spokes caught the cards, creating an engine-like sound that varied with speed. As an 8-year old I was convinced that it impressed the girls and adults too. But by the time I turned 10, I'd realised how embarrassing it was. I'm not going back now...I'll just make my own noises when there's no-one around to hear me.

Haha yes! Ice cup jammed into the back tyre and brake! Brilliant noise

But yeah I'd rather shout out of the window than have a fake GT3 rumble

Please. NO. Enough with loud noises. I somehow feel the Taycan is much faster when I turn off the Electric Sound.
I have enough of cars that make SO much noise and they’re still here. No performance whatsoever. Just annoying noise.

Just roll your windows down and yell the words "Engine noises!!!!" at the top of your lungs. It's far classier, and also more affordable. I thought I would regret not having the 'Sport sound' but after having my Taycan for a little over a month now I can't stand the thought of all the noise again. I have realized just how much my prior track tuned car that I would drive around annoyed me with the noise that it made. I definitely appreciate the quiet of the Taycan.

I may have rolled my windows down and yelled "engine noises" myself at my wife once or twice while I left the house waving though...

Seriously. Silence is golden.

The first thing I did when setting up Individual mode was to nix that silly Sport Sound.

I was kind of embarrassed for Porsche, that they'd introduce such a silly gimmick, and even make it the default in Sport Plus mode. That one would design a naturally quiet electric car to generate an irritating, fake vacuum cleaner sound is perplexing enough -- but to double down and make it louder and imitate the sound of an old-school ICE vehicle? That's just plain retarded.

Maybe it's a cultural thing. In the US, I haven't met a single Taycan owner who uses the fake noise, nor have I had a single passenger who thought it was anything other than a strange, ill-conceived gimmick. That said, at the end of the day, as long as there's a way to turn it off and keep it off, that's all that counts. :)

I wish someone had told me earlier......
I've been riding around on me Raleigh Chopper since 1974 trying to pull using this method.

Only last night, a couple of businesswomen told me to 'f*** off' while I was trying to impress them doing wheelies and riding no-handed.

I might just ditch the bike and try Tinder.

I'm in the US and I use it, although I do turn it off when I want to enjoy the silence more. When puttering around town I like to use it. For a road trip, I would definitely turn it off (although at highway speeds, I think it is either silent or overpowered by road noise anyway).

That would be safer- I knew a lad who nearly disembowelled himself doing something similar then falling off his Chopper and impaling himself on the handlebars. Of course, you didn't need to turn a wheel to impress the birds, as long as it had a furry tiger tail and plenty of mirrors.

I do use it when in a crowded parking lot. A lot of people do not hear me approaching, and the Star Trek sound helps...other than that, it gets old quickly

I foresee a "Porsche Serenity" FOD option to remove it. On the other side of the spectrum, perhaps also "Porsche Green Vape Exhaust" option which will blow steam out of the back to simulate exhaust. I'm surprised they have not yet offered "EV Gear Shifting simulation" which holds back the torque/power until the "engine revs up", then periodically cuts the power to 0 to simulate shifting, then starts the buildup again. Maybe an additional delay for Turbo and Turbo S to simulate the turbos spinning up.

Sarcasm? Perhaps. But never underestimate what people are willing to pay for. There used to be an old guy who I think must have lived in my neighborhood somewhere, who bought a red convertible Ferrari and every weekend when it was sunny, would drive around the 20mph speed limit neighborhood in first gear, all decked out in Ferrari gear of course. Impossible to do with a silent Porsche.

Not everyone outgrows it by the age of 10. Plenty of teenagers and 20-somethings driving around where I live without exhausts thinking it makes them cool. I've also noticed recently a bunch of them screw with their engine timing to cause their cars to backfire from time to time, to make them sound like a supercar. :CWL:

FOD CarTunes baby! Sell tracks to blast at pedestrians when in a crowded parking lot.
