So, energy crisis well documented. As ev owners this could increase costs significantly, and I’d imagine many are on octopus go.

I was on 5p for 4 hours and 14p for day rate, 25p standing. Contact date said ended 21st December and my tariff was octopus go 2018 ( I only joined dec2020). New bills come though and now says contract end date dec 2022, same tariff name and same tariff rate ( 5p/14p)?!

Is this right? ( will be rather happy if so!) It’s in black and white? What are others experience/ prices per kw when contract date ends?

My octopus 2018 5p/14p tariff rolled over in September for another year and has an end date of September 2022 now. Very happy with octopus doing that and having much lower rates.

I did contact them at the time about a new contract and they said they said it would automatically roll over as it's a beta tariff/product.

Good to know but why?? Don’t get it? All I read about is tariffs going up/ energy price caps etc. Why not this one? Surely they will be losing money on every kw?

Wow, is that double day rate then and 50% on overnight? Which tariff? Is this shown in your billing yet? Must of taken the shine off low cost ev running? Wonder Why yours has changed and mine hasn’t?

Good isn’t it. Had the same issue. In fact, thought the smart meter was faulty and have been back and forward contacting Octopus about it for weeks. In the end they admitted there is nothing wrong. our contract end date was also December and we will remain on the 2018 rate? let’s all hope this don’t break them?

I am expecting a big increase after the new price fix comes in (May?).

I am currently on variable (May 2021 v1) and am paying 16.67p / 5p.
Will Prob up my DDM by about 50% in spring.

They do need to make a profit to still be there when prices drop again. They are a decent company and I don't want to see them go under like many of the others.

Its not just EVs though. We are now paying something like £1.80/L for Shell VPower in the Mrs car.

With NI and Dividend tax rises in April, there is certainly going to be a lot less disposable income floating round the economy later this year.

That’s similar to what I was quoted when I phoned to enquire about getting a charger installed (haven’t rec my car yet).
We’re new to Octopus having been adopted by them when Avro went bust.
So far can’t fault their customer service.
FYI there are experiments going on around UK to allow you to sell your electricity back to the grid at the daytime rate. So if you charged at the early morning cheap rate you’ll make a fat profit
It could eventually solve the UK energy storage problem once we hit 10m electric vehicles

It’s Octopus Go, new tariff started at midnight last night. To be honest cheap ownership wasn’t high on my priority list when I bought the Porsche. Had enough of cheap after owning various Tesla.

The new Ofgem price cap announced yesterday applicable from April - October will move the standard (and currently cheapest) tariff to around 32p

For me this is exactly double my current fixed deal ending in March.

Ouch.

Ive been with Octopus go since March 2021

Current rates: peak-13p/ off peak-5p/ standing charge 25p

New prices from March 2022: peak-30p/ off peak-7.5p/standing charge 27p

Looks similar to others - although it seems earlier adopters are protected somewhat?

I’ve only been with them since Dec 20 but the rate was called octopus go 2018. Is this the only rate that seems to have been rolled over? Still baffled as to why but a result it is!

Sure is a result. In theory buys another year at least on cheap rates.

On smart meters does your reading take into consideration the reduced night rate? Mine did for a year then all of a sudden some months back no longer does. So if I charge for 4 hours overnight in the morning I’m £4 ish in the morning. They have assured me my bills correct and said sometimes this happens to a smart meter and once it happens it won’t go back? Bizarre explanation but I guess I’ll live with it!
