My only regret is that a month after I bought, the 2022s came out with paint-to-sample which would have let me get my preferred color of Guards Red.

Would always look at alternatives when the time comes and choose the best at that point. The Taycan was without doubt the best EV at the time I ordered it, whether it will still be in 2 years time when I look again, who knows.

Absolutely would buy it again (a 2022 model year that is, instead of 2020 I have now) and even the same 4S sedan model. The poll results so far indicate that I am part of an overwhelming majority.

Actually, I already did buy a Taycan again. My new GTS currently has a production date of March 2nd, i.e. in two weeks :). I did drive my T4S since February 2020 and yes, the car had more issues than it should have, but it still was and is an out of this world experience for me. It is by far the best car I have ever driven.

My dear V8 Corvette C7 is sitting in the garage with its battery empty, as it hardly ever gets moved.

Cheers,
Henrik

Still waiting for OTA to keep improving the performance of my 2022x, as advertised by Porsche. So for now, I’d explore options while Porsche gets their shit sorted. If not, last Porsche for me, I don’t accept false advertisement.
What performance improvements do you feel haven’t been delivered given you have a 2022. I don’t expect any performance improvements for my 2022, not am I aware of any that have been promised. Or do you mean there are bugs that need fixing (I’m all for that, I‘d rather have zero new “features” in lieu of rock solid stability). I’ve bought the car to drive, I’ve got tons of tech at home to fiddle with, less I do so in a car the better.

Our Taycan is, by far, the best car we have owned. Zero problems, great performance, comfortable and looks fantastic. However, I voted "Undecided" as the car's width makes for occasional tight maneuvering that terrifies my wife. In case you're wondering, we have all of the tech that assists with maneuvering/parking, etc. We bought it as "the family car" and she has yet to drive it.

When the lease expires, I am hoping that the Macan EV is out (& fully tested/proved) and will have a smaller set of "hips"
i wonder if the space\size of the taycan is between the Macan and Cayenne. The Macan was too small for our family of 4, cayenne was perfect and Taycan is a little squeeze, but we only need the space for roadtrips and majority of driving is my wife commuting. The one thing i dont like about the SUVs is how high you sit! no need really and we need to bring more wagons back.

In their initial marketing materiel the car was promised to deliver performance (or efficiency) updates OTA to “keep it fresh”. I don’t care about coloured icons, but I do care that I was giving an impression that my car would be faster and better as they improved the software over time, sent to me OTA.

This “it’s a drivers car” line is getting old real fast, and if at all true; why don’t you want updates that actually improve driving the car?

my wifes car (wagon) and love it, but she wants to sit higher in a dumb SUV - my strategy was get one before they make an SUV ;)

Yeah, I think you read too much into that statement. I would expect, at most, some minor improvements in range and maybe charging speed. If you were expecting to get more power or dynamic performance capabilities via software updates, you’re going to be disappointed; and you’re probably relatively alone in those expectations.
If they don’t mean that, it should not be marketed as such. I don’t have to read much into anything. It’s Porsches claim. I expect them to release OTA updates that improve the car, whether these are minor or major is not really relevant.

I don’t mind being relatively alone in expecting them to deliver. I doubt I am, but I don’t mind it.

Ha, ha... and there is the rub. "improve the car" is extremely ambiguous, since it means different things to different people, including some people thinking a particular change is an improvement, others think it's a degradation. Having been a Tesla customer for almost a decade, let me give you some examples:
  1. Tesla keeps on changing the UI. Some people liked the original which was easier to use, buttons were decent size, colored and at the top of the screen. Then an OTA forced everyone to tiny, monochrome buttons near the floor (far from driver's line of sight), plus some functions got buried under multiple levels of menus (rather than being a direct button). Improvement or a step back? Depends on who you ask.
  2. Tesla deploys fart mode. You can car now make fart sounds. The update makes the rest of the system slower (they moved to a new software) but hey, you can fart on demand now. Improvement? Again, depends on who you ask.
  3. Tesla limits the max charge rate and/or max range for some cars which have batteries in danger of catching on fire. Improvement? Well, safer car, but lower range and longer charging, so depends on who you ask.
  4. Tesla removes the defroster buttons from the main screen, now it takes multiple touches to enable windshield or rear defrosters. Improvement? For people in California or Texas, sure, for people in New York, or Alaska, not so much.
  5. Tesla upgrades everyone to new fancy UI software which was designed for latest and greatest hardware. On old hardware it runs slow and laggy, while some features are not available at all. It's like upgrading an old iPad to the latest IOS, runs slow and not all features are available. Improvement? Again, depending on who you ask and what their hardware is.
So, be careful what you wish for. You might get what others consider improvements, while for you it will suck.
