I got my Taycan Basic 2 months ago 800 miles. Love it. One of the best cars I ever owned. Yes some very minor issues, like backing out of garage and Home link asks me to close garage and is over the back up camera. Have to put car in park and then close garage and then put in reverse to get backup camera on again. I don't like electronic vents! But it really drive nicely, accelerates nicely and looks killer. It really is great going by gas stations charging $4.50 per gallon. Of course I am fortunate enough I have other gas cars to go on longer trips. I would be reluctant to go on a road trip with a 225 mile range car, but we use it around town and can't be beat.

The PCM is absolute trash.
The PCM is trash because apple music app takes a while to load?

My wife uses pandora sourced from her phone almost exclusively and I either use podcasts or music library sourced from my phone or NPR if using the car radio. Guess I don’t have your issues. PCM has been fine for me.

Get rid of the car and quit torturing yourself with slow-loading built-in music apps…I guess.

Would not buy again. Great looking car. Great drive. The PCM is absolute trash. Apple music takes forever to load. Just about every music app, whether it's radio, internet radio, or even Apple car play take so long to load and often load and don't play correctly. It's amazing that something this expensive doesn't work correctly. I don't know why this thing has to load for many minutes everytime I get into the car. Been to the shop multiple times and dealer doesn't know what to do. I've emailed Porsche and called the help line. It's been a really frustrating buy. Will never buy Porsche again.
I think you are saying that you are having problems with the PCM and are unhappy about it.
In my opinion the PCM is just another support but has nothing to do with the car itself. The car is to be driven and enjoyed.
Do you know any car that is so visually exciting (it makes heads turn with its passing), driving unbeatable (I'm not talking about performance because there are brands with better acceleration), that corners and brakes like no other?
Porsche will eventually solve these problems in the near future.

Got my 4CT back in October and love it .. to drive. It’s had a host of intermittent software problem, a dodgy key and a leaky tailgate that’s screwed up the electrics in it though. Have got an order in for a GTS ST and hopefully it’ll come with fewer glitches.

Would you buy your Taycan again, knowing what you know now? If no, what would need to change? Like many people here, I am waiting for the delivery of my vehicle. While waiting, I am wondering how satisfied or disappointed current owners are (and yes, this is likely not representative, given the forum bias). TIA

18,000km in 7 months before putting up for the winter. Now I can’t wait for April. Every drive has put a big goofy grin on my face. In 45 years of driving and 50+ cars, have never owned a vehicle I love more than my 4S. I know other people’s experiences have not been as rosy. Various threads indicate a laundry list of problems, some of which do not seem to have solutions. I always am sorry to read the negative posts because nobody should be forking out as much for a vehicle as our Taycans cost and find themselves dealing with a list of things that go wrong. Maybe it’s luck, but mine has been almost trouble-free. Is it a perfect car? Not quite. But the driving experience (for me) far outweighs a few bugs. Hope to add a Macan EV to the stable by the time I have to put the Taycan back in storage.

Just so people know where I'm coming from, I'm on my 6th Porsche over the last 12 years, currently own 2 (914 and Taycan 4S CT, recently traded my 911) with a 911 GTS on the way so would be considered a pcar person by others in this forum.

In my opinion, people who bought Porsches historically were mostly focused on the driving experience. They were not the car to have to attract the attention like Ferrari, Lamborghini, etc. They were never great with their infotainment systems or their interiors for that matter. What they did have (and still do) was amazing seats, seating position, incredible mechanicals and a connection to the road like nothing else.

The Taycan is in a different market to a lot of their other cars and Porsche does need to improve a lot in certain areas for that market. If you're going to be in the EV market you really should have great infotainment systems. People judge the rest of the software behind the scenes (and in EVs that's a lot) by what they see on the screen. Having glitchy software that you interact with on a daily basis can make people concerned about the quality of what they bought especially given these are not cheap cars.

Long term Porsche owners will scoff at people who complain about the PCM as that's not why they bought the car and they've come to expect those types of issues. My 2020 911 was terrible from that perspective (just opening the garage door was painful) but the driving experience was amazing.

If you bought a Taycan to use on your daily commute and every morning you're having to fight the PCM just to play the song that makes you feel better about heading into the office then it's important. Saying the entire PCM is trash because of one item does seem a bit over the top but when people are upset they can make statements like that to show how frustrated they are. There's a lot I like about the PCM, it's by no means perfect but it's not trash.

Honestly, if the Apple Music app wasn't ready for prime time then they should have just left it out of the PCM. I don't think anyone would have complained because the car has wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto now. You could simply use that to play your Apple Music. In my opinion it would have been better to focus on less features to begin with but have them work. There will always be small issues, that's the nature of software but Porsche seems to bite off a bit more than they can chew lately. Their infotainment software always seemed to be behind the times but in general it worked all the time.

I hate the idea that someone may be turned off the brand because of software issues but I understand why that might happen.

Strange. My Apple Play works fine! You might have an internet connectivity issue?
It works now - just didn’t when I first collected and I have to re-register sometimes….

As of this moment, NO. The range is a major issue for me. The glitches and software issues are also a pain in the ass. 206K for a car that has 150 miles of winter range and carplay and the PCM have issues regularly, ick.

I tend to change my mind a lot - so one never knows.

Actually, I already did buy a Taycan again. My new GTS currently has a production date of March 2nd, i.e. in two weeks :). I did drive my T4S since February 2020 and yes, the car had more issues than it should have, but it still was and is an out of this world experience for me. It is by far the best car I have ever driven.

My dear V8 Corvette C7 is sitting in the garage with its battery empty, as it hardly ever gets moved.

Cheers,
Henrik
Taycan 4 ever for me.

Good to hear. Drove my Tahoe this weekend and got 351 miles on a tank of gas. As soon as all the salt is washed away the 911 will be back out.

It's worth remembering that a lot of people only find car forums when they have an issue and then join and post.

So all car forums I have been on have a lot of issues posted.

Lots of happy, satisfied buyers never bother joining forums (especially females).

I know some members have had serious/multiple issues unfortunately.
Many experience the niggles.

But I think this poll should provide a good gauge of happiness from the less vocal as well.

I personally love mine. Only option I would have changed was adding the heated steering wheel.
well I’m very sorry to say but the heated steering wheel in mine I thought would just be a gimmick that I would never use, however I love it especially as I leave the house at 5.30 am every morning in a UK winter ?…. Sorry about that!

We are on 5th Taycan both my husband and I have had (one got smashed up) 2020's when it first came out and now 2022's - He was a former dealer (not Porsche) and would go as far as to say its the best car hes had. 2022 is better than 2022 - software is better and a little different. I see some dont like it, why what are your reasons ? There is a lot to learn on this car and you cant take it all in at first. The information manual on the screen is VERY helpful to locate features. I cant find anything wrong with the car. I think they did a good job. I do know that the Gov here in the US made VW come out with an EV by 2019 and Taycan was the farthest along at the time. It was premature and things are still being updated regularly. Which is a bit of a nuisance as sometimes your settings are wiped with certain updates, especially the radio presets. There was an alarm issue with the 2022 which has finally been fixed - the interior sensors are being replaced as they are way too sensitive. I will say there are some features you should consider that make it better like the brakes and larger wheels.

Porsche have done an amazing job with the Taycan and built a better EV and almost every single other manufacturer imho.

Objectively it is a better car than the Model 3 it replaced in our garage, but the Tesla suited our lifestyle more which is why we're going back to it.

I think it all comes down to Porsche treating it like a car first, and an EV second. Nearly every other EV out there you could just look at and know for sure it's an EV. The designs either look like they're trying to design "The Car of the Future", or they let engineers design the car based on what was aerodynamic. The Taycan is a car designed to fit EV components and remove the ICE, and it shows.
