Just had this back from our sparky - can imagine that Porsche being Porsche will have a quiet chortle whilst giving you a "you must be joking" line.

"

Personally I have not had any experience with the Andersen products, it looks like a decent well built unit but offers nothing extra that the Zappi does not but almost twice the price when you spec it to the same level of the Zappi.

The Zappi units however are also well built and full of features, I haven’t had any problems with them and everyone I know who has one has no complaints.

If your looking for something simple and reliable the Rolec chargers are also good value for money but definitely not on the same level as Zappi for features.

Not trying to do us out of work but as Ultan mentioned most dealers will offer a “free” charger installed at your residence (especially if you push for it) when buying new.

However we are more than happy to carry this out for you should you wish."

Zappi doesn't offer hidden cable management, right?

Cosmetically, the Andersen A2 wins hands down IMHO and is a piece of design excellence.

Not sure the feature set on either is that relevant given best practice is to use the Taycan's profile and timer tools - no need for anything beyond that.

If I hadn't got lucky and received a PMCC (free of charge due to PMC+ supply issues) I would have installed an A2. I used Andersen's for the site survey and electrical work (chap came from South Shields up to Aberdeen). First class service.

Porsche typically won't provide anything free (they don't need to) - the car comes with the PMC+ as standard - but will recommend Andersen's either to install or if you want an alternative at additional cost.

My OPC recommended an electrician rather than EVSE manufacturer so I contacted them and was provided a number of options including Anderson and Myenergi’s Zappi.

I went with Zappi as it will be inside my garage so the look including exposed cable was not a major factor. If I had to fit outdoors then the Anderson would have probably been the choice.

I had a local electrician install my Andersen A2 around 18 months ago.

Around two months after installation the unit failed. Andersen were very helpful and after unsuccessfully trying a bit of troubleshooting over the phone they decided to replace the unit. A new unit arrived quickly and they paid all of my electricians bills to change it over. The replacement unit has worked perfectly ever since.

I got the feeling that the fault was very rare and I was just unlucky, they seem well built and I expect that they are normally very reliable. I always feel that you can only really tell a good company by the way they handle things when they go wrong. There was no hassle and no fighting to get a resolution, thumbs up from me.

For me the Zappi offered PIN protection on the charger – which is desired as I park in an apartment underground – with dedicated spaces – but open to all residents. It helps prevent my unit turning into a "community charger"!

Yeah, I didn't know that at the time and sold my PMCC back to my Porsche Centre on pickup day. This was during that period when PMCC was a no-cost option due to supply issues. If I had known it was PIN protected – I'd prob be using it instead of the Zappi.

Oops - I got mine free too for the same reason but was installing in a garage and didn't have the 'free for all concern'.

FWIW the A2 can be disabled in the App to avoid being hijacked
Porsche Taycan Dealers putting their hand in their pockets for chargers? (UK) 4680CA67-DECA-4C57-8E8D-A05E8BE4F17F

Although it probably wouldn’t help in an underground car park as it requires a WiFi connection!
