My brand new 4S is only getting 210 miles a charge. I got the bigger battery and I have it at 100%. Any thoughts what I should be doing?

drive the car a bit and the guess o meter will adjust, depending on speed and climate you should be able to get at least 240 miles range.

I noticed that it took me until my first 1000 miles until the distance started getting better. I’ve some time as I am sure you will see it get better.

what is your consumption? Are you driving very short distances? The GOM needs sometime to settle out. After an update at the dealer my range went from 250 to 216. But after a few long drives it was back up to 250-273.

Houston here so same gen climate zone - my 2022 4S CT (delivered Dec 2021) was only getting 209 consistently for first month+ of driving - there is a 'break-in' or conditioning period which will adjust based on a slew of parameters (climate, terrain temps etc) but includes your driving habits - get a mix of short and long hauls in and over time (especially as coming into summer months) it will increase a lot.

I am currently regualrly getting 250-255 miles now estimated (not nec consumptive) and I have not adjusted my driving style one bit :) i.e. I drive 90% in Normal mode with AC etc on as nec. - doing this on long haul trips too such that if I started to use Range mode more I suspect that this too might boost the estimated range.

So (truly) forget about it and enjoy the car - and oh yeah congrats :)

the more data, the more accuracy you will see.

It's all just a guess number though...just like an ICE car. Throttle a lot where you go, or do short runs, spend all your time in the city or traffic and the number stays low. I find the easiest way to determine your consumption is over time and focusing more on your average kW/mile rating. It's in the app 3 ways - last run; last charge; lifetime (unless reset)

If you do that it looks a lot like what an ICE car would give you. City/HW/Average. Mine is 1.9/3.5/2.5 - take that and multiply that average by the size of the battery and it gives you a pretty clear picture of what (on average) you can expect...in terms that are close to how the auto community has been reporting efficiency for decades.

Range mode on the 4S turns the car into front wheel drive under low accelerator settings. The range is increased considerably when decoupling the rear motor. Very useful for long trips.

It's not just how you drive, but also what settings you have on. For example, if your AC is on, you will lose range. If your heated seats are on, you will lose range. If you drive highway speeds with the windows down, you'll lose range which will eventually show up on your guess o meter.

For example, I've 800 miles on my odo, on my CT 4S, puttering about at 70mph on the highway, with everything as normal (eco ac, windows up, 65* ambient temp, etc), I get 210@ 80%. With the ac off, in range mode, I get about 240 @ 80% on the guess o meter.

Your range looks to be within the realm of normal.

More none scientific evidence here. For the first 1500 miles or so I would get about 180-190 miles at 85% charge, but then around 1500-2000 miles it started creeping up and I now get about 215 miles at 85%. This is probably due to the break in period and it getting warmer here in the Chicago Area.

My 4S is in the Orlando area so my experience should be similar to yours as to the impact of ambient temperature on range.

At 100% charge (which I have only done once) my indicate range is 300 miles. My routine is to charge to 85% which consistently gives an indicated range of 248 miles.

I have never done a 75 MPH road trip so I can't judge the range under that scenario.

Advice... be patient.

Mine was opposite. When it was new it was higher and then it began creeping down. Batteries do that, they degrade.

From new with a 4S perf battery delivered 100% 198 miles
now 2000 miles in I’m at 268m for 100% charge
mostly sensible driving initially mix of local and 1 1000m road trip no special settings just running the car on normal and using the toys
seems to just get better for me now happy with the range
oh and only 2 full. Launch control moments so far :)
