I recently picked up my RWD and absolutely love the car. I intended it to be a short term lease but now I wish I had picked up a 4s or GTS instead as it will be in the stable for many years.

It would be nice if there is a way to remove the off-the-line power limiter because the Taycan’s initial acceleration doesn’t match what you get at higher speeds.

If 4s or higher is absolutely out of the question, I suggest you drop the tech pack, Olea leather, sport chrono and Burmeister. Also drop the gloss shadow line unless you prefer the gloss over mat black (RWD comes standard with mat black shadow line trim). I don’t have the pano roof and am glad I didn’t opt for it.

I have the mission e wheels with matching painted white exterior. I believe it makes the car stand out. But like someone said in a previous post, the standard silver one looks really good too. I almost regretted not leaving it silver.

I think must adds are PB+, storage pack and surround view camera. The storage pack gives you usable storage at the tunnel between the driver and passenger seats. The standard backup camera that you get without surround view is complete garbage.

I think you should keep the power charge cover as the black accents makes the car look nicer. Rear wheel steering is a must keep. The turning radius without it is terrible. Add in upgraded leather (not Olea) if you are still within budget because the plastic dash and door shills make the car feel cheap.

Again, if you can opt for a 4s or GTS, DO IT! I was being cost conscious when I got my RWD but now having owned one, I’d gladly pay the extra $$ to have the power to match how stunning this car looks. I also have a GT3 and would be just as happy without it if I had a Taycan GTS in the garage. Okay, maybe not just as happy, but pretty damn near.

I charge my plug in hybrid every day, sometimes twice a day.
I have 2 hands. I use one to unplug and the other to close the hatch. ;)
Zero problem ever leaving it open in 12 years of PHEV ownership.

There has been more than one example of the electric cover failing and leaving they car unable to be charged.
One would be one too many for me :)
Pardon me while I date myself a bit here, but I think the electric charge port cover is "cool".

I purchased the Taycan in partly because I love the styling, the way it handles (just like a Porsche), and the "WOW" factor it seems to evoke in others. While I could totally get by with a manual cover, everyone who asks me about the car, or is curious about charging, absolutely loves the electronic charge port covers. Even my wife (who doesn't give a sh*t about stuff like this) loves the electronic covers.

And call me lazy, but as others have mentioned, I love being able to simply unplug and walk away from the car, knowing that it will close up automatically.

I can't really comment on reliability except to say that I haven't had trouble in any weather, and I think if one of the two covers stopped working I would just use the other one until I can get the broken door repaired.

At the same time, I totally get why this doesn't matter to some folks. Call me superficial, or call me lazy if you like. Fact is I just love the coolness factor

Mostly just “me too” on a skinnier 4S spec. Here’s what I made. If you can give up the Olea, I’d definitely recommend the battery upgrade

If you want to stick with a highly optioned base, drop Burmeister and most of the performance and vanity options. I really like the air suspension, but you probably don’t need rear axel steering or the full technology pack.

i also really like the 150kw DC charger upgrade. I use it all the time (no at home charging at the moment)

Also, don't forget the "On-Board 150 kW/400V DC Charger" at $460. With Superchargers opening up to non-Tesla vehicles in the states, it's a future-proofing option. I've already encountered 400V ChargePoint chargers capable of pushing above 50kw, which is all you will get if you skip the option.
I use 150kw chargers all the time. Takes about 20 minutes to charge 30->80 (bigger pack), or approximately 50Kw. If you have access to them, and most folks don’t because EA is generally terrible everywhere else, it’s a huge quality of life upgrade for folks without at home charging

I'm going to suggest that while true you use 150 kW charging all the time

it's not actually 400V/150 kW charging - most chargers are NOT 400V - they are 800V chargers so the 400V/150 kW upgrade plays no role

this will change when Tesla opens up their supercharger network to CCS vehicles.

what chargers are you typically using to charge at 150 kW?

I'm a big fan of this option because ya'never know - but the facts are 400V/150 kW are VERY VERY rare - so this option is not that effective until you mix in the Tesla supercharger network.

lol. Porsche makes this very easy to understand listing the standard equipment capability at 50Kw …

I use EA chargers.

Oh, wow. I went to look at standard options, because, surely Porsche lists the 800VDC 270kW charging capability there, so as to not cause confusion…right?

lol, nope.

Surely it must specify somewhere that the standard maximum charge rate of 270kW with 800V chargers????

Not in places that I think it should be, like technical specs or standard equipment.

Like here are the technical specs:

EA chargers are 800V - so the 400V/150kW option is _NOT_ in play and is not required…

it's a very very confusing option.

According to this video, you’re right on, unless in the EU where there are more chargers that delivers charge at that voltage. Most US chargers dont.

I think you just have to decide for yourself. I was in the same boat as you, on a budget. Specced a fairly loaded CT4, but realised that for that ammount I could get a "nicely" specced 4S. Just had to consider my personal "must have's" and shave off some of the "cool to have" based on my personal preference and use case. Still ended up with an expensive build, and looking at used car listings, its definitely not the sweetspot when it comes to resale (abt. 2% burmester / Olea combo on a 4s) but Im going to keep it for a while so dont care so much about that. The subjective span in must have vs. Completely useless is staggering for different people. Those who have avoided an accident due to the night vision will never be without it. Burmester to me is acceptable, Bose isn't. Cresting and puddle lights does nothing for me but seems everyone specced it here in Norway, same with electric chargeport, but they seem to freeze up so a nono for us, bike rack is a biggie but the rack itself is 2K+ and have another car for that so no, Olea too expensive but really wanted 2 tone and std. Leather only in light colour, sceptic to practicality. Acoustic glazing a must on our rough roads, on smooth roads probably not so much. Im used to head-up, love it in my BMW so ticked that. Same with matrix lights. Lots of badly lit roads, winter time and getting older as well - never ride my bikes after dark anymore so always opt, for best possible lights. RWS is a step up on twisty roads but even without the car is surprisingly nimble in town so not an absolute must for me but "nice to have +". 21" CT wheels looks awesome but "everyone" has them and at the price you can have lots of high quality aftermarket alternatives so went with 20' for winter and will get some nice summers later. Sport sound annoyed me, others love it. Would love to go for contrast stitching and Alcantara roofliner to improve the cabin further but too expensive for me. Could go on and on but dont think it helps you much. Btw. If there was a CT GTS on offer I probably would have skimped on a few of my own "must haves" and gotten that instead....Anyway Good luck on your choices. Interesting to see what you end up with.

Paying a grand for embossed crests on the seats and console and 1300 on painted door sill guards sort of answers your question.

Also ditch the airy fairy suspension. Speaking from experience the coils are a perfect ride for the RWD and that's on 21" Aero Blades..

And that gets you gets to 130k even with the pointless madly overpriced sound system!

UK std spec at least lists 800v but I think its fair to say that the majority of us are aware of the 350kW (270kW max) DC capability that this affords.

150kW 400V (BP Pulse) here in UK so this option remains a no-brainer given the price.
