Correct! If you get the newer versions for the model3, they have the Mennekes type2 connector. And not Tesla proprietary.

I have both a Tesla Wall Connector and the mobile charger. The Wall connector is used all the time for the Taycan. Works great.

I have however had problems with using the mobile unit. For some reason I get some fault message. so try out the unit before purchase. Could very well be my wiring in the house that gives me trouble.
Thanks to you and @daveo4EV. Very helpful.

Could you elaborate on what you think your mobile unit issue is? I can only purchase online unfortunately. So, hard for me to try it before. thanks

I am not sure but can try today again after the recent update. As I said the Wall connector (fixed unit works very well). But I earlier hot a red charging message on the Taycan when I first tried the mobile unit. Since I later found out that I had so many destination charger options available, I never bothered to retry.
But will try today and come back to you.

Here is some feedback for you.

I am not sure which version my Tesla UMC is. It was one of the first Tesla M3 in France in early 2019. The unit can take normal Schuko adapters, a 32 amp single phase as well. There also was a 3 phase 16 amp connector as an option. The unit can deliver up to 11 kW. Small footprint, in the box less than 30 cm by 30 cm.

And here is a picture of the comparison to the Porsche Brick!

I would have loved to be able to use that on trips, but unfortunately but there is something not working with my Taycan. I only get the message as per below. It charges our Tesla without any issues, but the Taycan gives a charging error.

This could be my car or the compatibility between Porsche and Tesla UMC. I am going to take the UMC to Tesla to get it checked. Could need a SW update or similar since it was such an early delivery.

I am sure there are other persons on here that can comment.

Sorry I could not help more

Thanks that's very helpful. If it is not a specific issue of your car or due to an older version of the UMC, it might mean the UMC would not be suitable as a portable charger for the Taycan. I'm curious if other Europeans have tested it.

Yes I am still vey surprised that there is some issue. I would have thought that it all would be standardised. I still have to try it out at some other place where I just could plug the charger in.
I would also be interested to hear other Europeans experience of the Tesla UMC.

I'm very interested too as I'd like to buy one to keep in the Taycan at all times. I've read in many other messages here, especially those lamenting the bad performance and behaviour of PMCC which seems to be exclusive to the US - that the Tesla UMC would be a better replacement.

At the same time, I'd like to make sure it can charge the car altogether ;)

I bought a second hand tesla charger and i love it! It’s about a quarter of the weight and size of the Porsche one and fits in the lower boot - no way the Porsche one would fit there as i need the frunk for it!
