and now Porsche, which is monitoring this forum, will add a "cocunuts set with PORSCHE Logo" to their Tequipment Accessories line for 650$...I WOULD spec the clippity-clop sound on the Taycan or, better yet, the coconuts from Monty Python and the Holy Grail.
Wrong. $6K and then a few years later they would ask you to bring it in for an update and take one of the coconuts back . . .and now Porsche, which is monitoring this forum, will add a "cocunuts set with PORSCHE Logo" to their Tequipment Accessories line for 650$...
Better than Tesla….They charge you $6k for enhanced auto coconut. A few years later that’s a promise of full self driving coconut for $12K. Yep (coco)nuts alright.Wrong. $6K and then a few years later they would ask you to bring it in for an update and take one of the coconuts back . . .![]()
I think I paid 20K in total and I’m still waiting for full self driving and I don’t even own the cars anymore. Also paid 20K for Ludicrous and never used once. Fool me twice, never againBetter than Tesla….They charge you $6k for enhanced auto coconut. A few years later that’s a promise of full self driving coconut for $12K. Yep (coco)nuts alright.
Seems like the minority is more vocal - most people in a poll here preferred it and it wasn't close, something like 80/20 split. I would never spec a Taycan without it. It's almost like audio footprint at this point. Also, I'm a nerd and love futuristic stuff. I feel like the whole launch control experience wouldn't be the same without it.I'm definitely the minority here, but I have the Electric Sport Sound and absolutely love it! Turn it on whenever I drive ?But no, I wouldn't mod it for one of those fake engine sounds in the video.
I know. I’m there too. Worse yet in the UK/Europe where it’s completely hobbled anyways.I think I paid 20K in total and I’m still waiting for full self driving and I don’t even own the cars anymore. Also paid 20K for Ludicrous and never used once. Fool me twice, never again
Couldn't agree more!Seems like the minority is more vocal - most people in a poll here preferred it and it wasn't close, something like 80/20 split. I would never spec a Taycan without it. The poll result was 65% yes / 35% no.Seems like the minority is more vocal - most people in a poll here preferred it and it wasn't close, something like 80/20 split. umm, no. The sole reason you don't buy the logic is that you don't live in a part of the world that is urban enough that pedestrians walk out mid block into the streets. I spend a lot of time in California for business, including specifically in Del Mar. It is not a pedestrian friendly area, and people do not tend to walk out into the streets. There is also good visibility of pedestrians on the sidewalks. But if you go to DC, New York, Chicago, San Francisco, etc., pedestrians walk out in the street all of the time. If you are making no noise, they frequently do so without even looking. It is only by the grace of God that I have not hit a few pedestrians through absolutely no fault of my own. You can be driving the speed limit, paying full attention, and then have a pedestrian walk out right in front of you between cars so you don't even see them coming. This happens in Georgetown where I live all of the time. When I am in my 911, which is very loud, this never happens. I am more likely to get dirty looks from the sidewalk. It has yet to happen in the Taycan with the sound on, but I haven't had it that long. In the Tesla, it happened ALL OF THE TIME. On the very close calls, I would honk and frequently get a very friendly middle finger thank you for saving the pedestrian's life. So the mere fact that you may not need it in Del Mar does not mean that it is not needed.Absolutely not. Did not spec the sound for reasons noted here. And I don't buy the logic that it prevents pedestrian accidents. That's the driver's responsibility. I've been driving EVs for a couple years and never had a close call. EVs are everywhere now, they are in the mainstream.
