For RWS I would go to the dealer. Otherwise, a competent shop can handle regular alignment easily.Or does anyone know a good independent? Prefer Long Island
No RWS, Could a chain like Mavis be trusted to do this? For RWS I would go to the dealer. Otherwise, a competent shop can handle regular alignment easily.
Just had tires replaced, wear was uneven on frontsFrom prior threads, I believe it depends on whether your toe is out of spec, as that requires front bumper removal.
What makes you think that you need an alignment?
out of curiosity how many miles did you have a on your car, and did you feel that you may have done anything while driving to knock out your alignment? for me 18K miles and needed all new tires and alignmentJust had tires replaced, wear was uneven on fronts
Cameras will need recalibration and potentially the front bumper removed and the front radiators slacken. No RWS, Could a chain like Mavis be trusted to do this?
29,000 miles. Nothing out of ordinaryout of curiosity how many miles did you have a on your car, and did you feel that you may have done anything while driving to knock out your alignment? for me 18K miles and needed all new tires and alignment
Ouch!Cameras will need recalibration and potentially the front bumper removed and the front radiators slacken.
7.25 hours of labour for a full 4 wheel realignment.
Design disaster IMHO.
Been there done that.Ouch!
For you this was an excellent end result!Been there done that.
In the end the dealer had used the Porsche alignment rig incorrectly and after being told all of my wheels were out of alignment (no odd tyre wear) and me making a lot of noise they reran the tests and only a mild adjustment needed for the front.

Too true and I think this extends to basic PDI inspections which as we've read on this forum have been poor. For you this was an excellent end result!
But it makes me feel sad about the skill level of the Porsche technicians employed! He seemed to rely more on the results of a computer than skills in weighing up all the available data, both computer vs physical results on the tyres.
