So, it’s been about a month since I’ve had my GTS sedan coming from a Tesla model 3 performance. I’ve had 911’s, Macans, boxsters, Cayennes….

Here’s some random thoughts ….

The Good:

The car is quality in every way. The fit, finish, comfort all extraordinary.

The handling for a large car is phenomenal

The car is just so dang pretty..

The PCBB’s are next level and no brake dust?‍♂

Visibility toward front is fantastic, it feels like your one with the road in jet cockpit

Love the computerized sound, they nailed it. Although I only use it in sport plus I really feels it adds another element to the driving experience

Charges fairly quick on a level 2 Tesla charger, I haven’t had to use electrify network yet

Rear axle steering is awesome and glad I specced it

They nailed the gearing, the car has tons of torque even at 80+, the Tesla would drop off significantly much earlier

Ambient lighting at night is very beautiful

The PCM does taking getting used to, but I think people on here are overly critical of the PCM - I don’t mind it

Performance, handling - awesome and that’s on all season tires

The NOT so Awesome …

The visibility out of the rear window is tolerable but not awesome ..

The car is LOW, have to be careful…

I’m an athletic 145lbs 5’8 very fit guy and this car is cumbersome to get in and out of - when I had my rather large older dad drive it I thought we would have to call an ambulance to get him out ?

The app battery range and the car battery range often times dont line up - for instance , this morning app showed 245 (on charger), when I got in it showed about 212. Drove about a mile , went down to 192. It was was 37 degrees outside.

The Bose system is average, I’m not an audiophile but do enjoy good sound.

I hate carrying around a key again ..

Takes me very long to park , but that’s because I’m crazy and will only park in certain spots.

Back seats are ok, but for people 5’8 and under

Not sure if this is good or bad , but the white mission E is a neck snapper. There is no hiding in this car, people oogle over it.

Monday we pick up my wife’s new Land Rover Range Rover. She got her 23” blacked out wheels with the black optic package. These are both “milestone” vehicles for us. We worked our ass off, and we rewarded ourself with some of the things we only dreamed of …I had tremendous amounts of guilt spending this kind of $ on cars. I have an overly critical conservative accountant father and I don’t come from $. It’s amazing at 48 years old the gravity of dads words…

I’ve done lots of self introspection and finally at peace with our purchases -

Work hard, play hard, celebrate the wins. Screw the haters and people passing judgement, there will be many - treat people the way you want to be treated.

Hope you liked my random thoughts and some find it useful, thanks for all of you who helped answer all my questions these past few months. Stay safe out there, ✌

Great review and straight to the point. Would be great if you could share your build details and some pictures of the ride. Cannot wait to get mine with about 65 days to go per TYD. The more I wait the positive reviews of the driving experience getting more exciting and the negatives do not bother me so much, so cannot wait to get in and out of it! This can all change if I get stuck with a broken heater in the cold.

Agree 100%. I always feel a little guilty when buying a new car (for about a day when I finally make the decision)... we always hear that buying CPO/used is the best financial decision (and it usually is) so I have always felt a little guilty buying new even though I've only ever bought one used as an adult. With this car, much like you, my family has paid our dues and I have finally reconciled with myself... F@#K IT!! I like NEW cars and there's nothing wrong with that. We can afford it without putting the family in financial risk, my retirement fund is kicking ass thanks to my wife, and we can pay for our daughter to attend the best school in our area. I like NEW cars and no one is going to make me feel guilty about it.

It also reminds me of an RV forum that I read a while back... someone asked if an RV is a bad investment because their financial advisor said it was. The response was essentially, "They are! But you don't buy an RV [or Porsche in our case] as an investment. You buy it because you worked your ass off and you can."

Enjoy it!

Great review. Agree with all of your comments. Can’t imagine how low the GTS rides, that’s the reason why I went with the Cross Turismo 4S (primarily ride height).

The PCM and tech leaves a lot to be desired from a stability standpoint, and yes - a bit more range (especially in the cold winter months) would be greatly appreciated. Looks, drives and handles like a Porsche should.

I bookmarked your post when you received your car. This is my first post in this forum.

Really appreciate everything you said, the practicality and the very subjective 'take as your like' feedback. But more so appreciate the journey you have been on to get this car and your wife's. In the same boat as you. Just waiting for my allocation call.
p.s. its because of you why I opted to go with the Mission E on my GTS. Really tried with the GTS rims but just doesn't do it.

Keep the posts coming!

Somehow this resonates, congrats on both the vehicles and associated succes!

Congratulations on the fabulous new car! Two questions for you:

How does the straight-line performance compare to the M3P? And, if you were ordering anew, would you spec Burmester? It’s a painful upcharge relative to the Bose, but…

I’d say the power delivery is slightly different, it’s not as violent as the M3P in the 0-30mph. From 60 on there is no comparison, the Taycan takes the cake, it has much longer legs. Personally , no I wouldn’t tick a 5+k music option - it’s just not that important to me and the Bose is “good enough”

Wife and I both work and treated ourselves to your garage more or less - Taycan Turbo plus Range Rover L460 P440e. Have had 911, X6, X5, etc before but this really feels like THE two car garage. Would love a Cayman GT4 or a GT3RS + a pick-up truck to make the ultimate 4 car garage but paying off the mortgage will come long before this!!

Congratulations. I had a very similar background with a hard working / saving the pennies for retirement Dad. He passed away not many years into retirement. I've worked hard but it still took months of deliberation to finally proceed. Expenditure like this does not come naturally. Once decision was made, I relaxed. Just wish my old man was around to see it delivered - he would have loved it!

All the posts resonate with me. I’ve worked hard all my life and always wanted to own a Porsche from my mid 20s. Finally managed it at 51 with my brand new Taycan GTS which I collected on 21 January 2023.

i have a 911 on order, due for delivery hopefully end of 2024.

in the meanwhile, enjoy the car and remember we only live once!

Great summary and thank you for opening up for some healthy reflection. These are expensive cars lets not forget that. But since you can afford it - enjoy them fully without any remorse.

Me too I have went for Taycan GTS ST and Range Rover (Sport) Phev. Both in grey - Volcano and Carpathian. I will hold on to the Range Rover, best and most refined SUV I´ve ever owned - at least for my needs. Congratulations to your wife! Personally I love how the GTS rides low, the Range Rover gives all the ground clearance I could ever need. So its a great combo!

Posted my own 1 month review and read yours here. We're very close in our opinions. Rear axle steering is amaze-balls, and the coated brakes mean no rust or dust. What a car!
