In my area, Texas, the EA network is dismal - always 'not working'. And our dealerships don't have chargers available for use (!)
Planning a long road trip soon and would really like to take my beast on the road. Since Tesla stations seem to be everywhere - any tips on how to use the Taycan at those stations? Any recommendations on which J-adapter is best? Cost of charging/do I need to sign up with Tesla ahead of time?
Thanks!

Be advised - the Taycan via JDApter can only charge at L2 charging rates - maximum 40/48 amps - the JDapter does NOT let you use Tesla Superchargers...

either JDAper or TeslaTap works fine for accessing Tesla L2 chargers you may find at hotels/business/golf courses/wineries…

use of Tesla L2 chargers are at the business owner's discretion - there is no billing/network - they are just normal L2 EVSE's and are a simple 240 volt circuit - check with the owner at a particular location for their permission to use their Tesla L2 chargers - I'm sure they will happily agree.

there are no announced plans for compatibility between Tesla Supercharger fast charging network and non-Tesla EV's - and I believe we'll see an all electric 911 long before any such co-operation can be expected (i.e. never).

Thanks. So does that mean that with the adapter, we can use the Tesla stations, but just not their superchargers?

correct - but they are not Techically "Tesla's stations" - they are EVSE's installed/owned/operated by the businesses that provide them - it would be no different that if a business purchased and installed a Porsche charger and made it available to their customers…

all North America EV's (including the Taycan) use an electrical specification charging standard called J-1772

_ANY_ J-1772 EV charger (called an EVSE) can charge any J-1772 EV - so their are not brand specific - they are simply electrical devices that can charge an EV - and all North American EV's to date ship with and support J-1772 (including Teslas).

The Tesla chargers (not the superchargers) are under the covers a J-1772 charger, but they have the wrong shaped plug (there are reasons for this but beyond scope of this thread) - so the JDapter/TEsla tap is a simple adapter that simply change the Tesla plug type to a standard J-1772 plug (like your Taycan)…and boom you can charge _ANY_ J-1772 based EV using a Tesla L2 charger…
