People keep speculating on things that others take as facts and run with them. It’s not a software update that’s delaying delivery, it’s an extended QA hold so Porsche can analyze the data on your cars systems before they release it. They do this all the time as updates are introduced to the line or they detect an anomaly. They have been doing it in all their cars for years. The intent is to PREVENT you having to come back in a month to get an update. They really are pretty anal about delivering a quality product.
I’m sorry but this is surely nonsense, they certainly do not ‘do this all the time’ - it is not normal to be called the night before your collection to be told that you can’t have you car as originally planned, with the dealer unable to give any reason.
it is even less ‘normal’ to be at the dealership mid-way through a handover then be told they can’t give you the keys.

No, it’s not nonsense since COVID and it’s not only Porsche. 6 months ago Ram put a stop sale on diesel engined HD pickups after delivering thousands to dealers who had to tell people they weren’t getting their truck and had no idea when they would. Hundreds of people got the same message in mid delivery.

Porsche has had spot stop sales for Bose radios, electronic steering columns, HV heaters and other assorted issues. Many happened without giving dealerships a lot of info. There’s also currently a stop sale on 911’s too, I don’t recall what that issue is but I suspect a common electronic part or software revision is the culprit.

Luckily my Taycan got scanned this morning and Porsche gave it the thumbs up early this afternoon. I’ll be collecting it, again, tomorrow.

You are conflating two entirely different issues.

Of course, due to Covid, there were (and still are) part shortages which means that some cars were waiting for parts so that they could be completed, whilst others arrived with incomplete specifications. This was not a normal situation.

That’s very different than (as you put it) an “extended QA hold so Porsche can analyze the data on your cars systems before they release it”.

I was finally hoping to pick up my Taycan GTS (PP52ZW18) this weekend from Wolverhampton Porsche, but I got a call today saying that a new "stop sell" had come in from Porsche, which means they can't release my car for a few weeks or so. Apparently, someone was in the showroom yesterday to pick up theirs and wasn't allowed to drive it away.

Does anyone have details? The salesperson said it's probably a software update and he'll have more details next week.
I also had the dreaded Stop Sale on an Ice Grey GTS Sports Tourismo, was supposed to collect it this coming Friday. Dealer is unable to share any details at this stage.

I sold my Cayenne Coupe yesterday in anticipation of picking up the Taycan, so now carless - hopefully this is resolved quickly!

I really hope we will eventually know what exactly caused this stop sale. And whether it could be relevant to owners of the car already...

Perhaps, but in 45 years of driving Porsches I’ve only ever ordered 2, the first one was delayed at the port for 5 weeks, Porsche refused, to this day, to tell me or the dealer what they held it for. And now the Taycan, though this has only been a week. Having been in the community for so long I’ve heard stories of missed deliveries as far back as I can remember yet I always come back. I guess that makes me a gluten for punishment……… Or a Porschephile ?

BTW, they gave me a nice Panamera 4 to drive around while I wait.

I’m enjoying the Taycan Turbo S they’ve given me - not a bad introduction to the world of EV driving!

My Taycan ST RWD ( Dolomite Silver) was meant to be delivered from Cambridge (UK) last Friday, but garage called to say the weren’t allowed to register or release it. They updated this morning to say that they were asked to run a Vehicle Analysis Log and send it to Germany. It would take them around d 3 days to assess the results at which point they would let the dealer know whether they could release it or not

Wondering if this could be related the the brake pad wear warning light issue that affected South American cars a couple of weeks ago?

I believe my car is either en-route to dealership or at the dealership, but I haven't received a call back yet and certainly no news about a stop-sale. However, I asked for the invoice last week and I noted a registration number on it, so to me it has been registered. Are we sure the stop-sale would prevent registration?

I'm not sure of anything tbh, but that's what Porsche Centre Cambridge told me last Friday
