Anyone else having problems with their app updating/linking to the car?

Mine seems stuck on Wednesday 7th June. I've tried reinstalling the App, which didn't help and the car is parked where it normally is - strong mobile area. I know it's sometimes the porsche servers, but been quite a while now. Any other fixes?

Just noticed there seems to be no LTE in the car - I have some sort of = with a line through it in the PCM. I think that means no LTE?

Green SOS light is on.

Any thoughts?

Yes you do not have any LTE connection. Maybe move the car a few menters nd check if there is communication in the PCM.

Try a two finger reboot. If that does not work try 12 volt disconnect??

Thanks, tried the 2 finger salute and that didn't help unfortunately. Car has been all over the place over last few days (since i first noticed), so i'd think there has been plenty of opportunities for the car to have some signal. Tried going in and out of privacy mode and changing users too.

I assume there is no way to access the sim to take out and put back in? Not sure i fancy fiddling about with the 12v. Have emailed porsche smart mobility too.

No I do not think there is a physical SIM in the car. In such case it is well hidden

No LTE/4G symbol (or in 2025 models: message 'no data connection can be established right now') = car without cellular data comm link.

Could be problem with cellular network, Porsche server back-end, car software, or car hardware. Often seems to resolve on its own. Many threads on forum about it.
Options:
a. Wait till it resolves on its own.

b. Contact Porsche support to check for Porsche system-wide outage, or a problem with configuration of Porsche Connect service in cloud/server for your VIN and Porsche ID.
https://www.taycanforum.com/forum/t...n-to-porsche-servers.22616/page-3#post-345340
(Avoid following advice to reset PCM to factory settings - see below.)
Try to contact "Porsche Mobility" or "Porsche support for software, apps, and connectivity" specialists, which are options in some countries such as UK and Switzerland. In US there is option at 1-800-PORSCHE for "Porsche Connect".

c.1 Two-finger PCM reset - start engineering mode, then restart normal PCM (J1.1 models only): https://www.taycanforum.com/forum/threads/how-to-reboot-pcm.3021/page-2#post-111629

f. 12v battery disconnect https://www.taycanforum.com/forum/threads/how-to-disconnect-12v-battery.11322/

Edited on Dec 5, 2023: (Per @whitex, the ConBox High ecu that controls datacomm has internal battery. Brief 12v battery or fuse disconnect may not be enough to "reset" it. Several forum posts indicated success by disconnecting battery or fuses for 20-30 minutes.)

Edited on Dec 24, 2024: This post and thread indicated success after disconnecting battery for 45 minutes - 30 minutes was not enough.

[Edited on Sep 15, 2024, to add:] Do NOT do a factory reset of PCM if the PCM does not display LTE /data connection symbol (or in 2025 models: 'no data connection can be established right now' message is present when PCM media is selected.)
--Factory reset usually does nothing to fix no LTE or no data connection.
--Factory reset deletes your accounts in PCM. You will not be able to re-add your accounts in PCM until LTE or data connection service is restored.

Edited to reflect changes for 2025 model year Taycans.
Edited to include link for item b. - checking with Porsche customer support.
Edited item d. to add link to post about pulling 2 fuses for 30 minutes.
Edited item g. to link to TSB about re-programming PCM.
Edited item b. to recommend contact with connectivity support specialists at Porsche.
Edited to add item g. to park car underground without access to mobile signal, per @Speuk.
Edited on March 12, 2026, to add item c.2 to activate/deactivate privacy mode.

Thanks.

Will give it a while and await reply from porsche smart mobility.

It's not that far off service time, and I'm sure by the time they'd be able to see it it may as well be done at same time.

Fingers x'd it fixes itself.

Cheers

Defo no physical SIM in the car. The e-SIM/GSM/LTE module is up behind the trim in the rear-view mirror.

There is an e-sim information menu on PCM, which would indicate an e-sim. The LTE modem is under the dash, in a module called ConBox-High which also includes GPS and WiFi. ConBox high has its own Lithioum Ion battery which keeps it powered even when the car's 12V is cut off. That battery requires periodic replacement (4-5 years perhaps, a Porsche tech once told me but I forgot - they have those same modules in non EV Porsches too).

I think that is just an antenna, one of them at least, I *think* there are more than one in a Taycan, the connector for the LTE antenna on the ConBox-High which has the LTE modem is a quad-coax connector (Mini Fakra 4-way).

EDIT: there are apparently 4 antennas (see top right of cBox high), at least in 2020 Taycans

@BigBob Out of curiosity, what is displayed when you check the current eSIM connection via the PCM?
i. Home --> Devices --> […] Options --> Data Connection Settings --> embedded SIM card
status

@whitex Thank you for the diagram of "connect function" distribution. Several owners have mentioned dealers replacing OTA control unit to fix datacomm/no LTE problems.

I'm trying to get a better understanding of the components and functions of Taycan's datacomm system.

Forum posts - some by you - have shown photos of OTA control unit.
Is OTA control unit a separate hardware item, or is it a part of the ConBox-High unit?
What function(s) does OTA control unit perform?

The diagram you posted shows 10 antenna symbols. Does this mean the ConBox-High is connected to 10 antennas?

When LTE is shown as not available in PCM and we rule out poor local cellular service and Porsche back-end application service faults as causes, what in the car is possibly causing the outage, which often seems to be intermittent/resolves on its own in a couple of days?

There were a couple of posts in the past that criticized the Conbox-High as a relatively low-quality telematics device. Is that a root cause of no LTE issues?

Yeah, I had the same problem for a few days after being away for a week. I ended up pulling the fuses that power the Wireless Data Control Unit (Row B 1 & 10) and after 5 min the LTE symbol was back. Also lost internet radio but had the SOS LED green.

App connecting fine since, so worth a try before booking into the dealer?

All I need to do know is find the fuse box ?
