Hi all. I’m having the service upgraded at my house and will run a 100A circuit to the garage.

I’m looking to install a 19.2 kWh charger and have seen a lot of opinion on the Porsche one.

Can I get some recommendations on the best one out there?

thanks.

those are the 3 that come to mind if you're looking for a 100/80 amp EVSE

+1 for the reply from @daveo4EV .... that is more or less the comprehensive list. That said, I recently have been getting advertisements on FB for a unit from Duracell Power (LINK HERE) that is 19.2kW and looks kind of cool and feature packed. If you look at the PDF data sheet it mentions both RFID, and ISO15118. So that means it would support plug and charge! So that could be another good option at a similar price point to the Porsche unit.

all home EVSE's should be "plug&charge" - because home chargers have no billing and just charge until control of timer's/profiles of the vehicle's charging control software.

Some (like the Porsche one) use it to unlock the charger for car's that have been "added" to it. For folks like me that have a personal charger but in a large shared garage. Saves using a RFID card or entering a PIN, etc

I have the Porsche Wall Charger and it is fantastic and at a surprisingly good price for a Porsche branded product. It doesn't suffer from the quality issues of Porsche's mobile chargers. Software updating when I first installed it was difficult, but later firmwares (that it probably ships with now) have autoupdate, so my one complaint about it has been addressed. My installer failed to read the setup instructions, so had to take it off the wall to reach the toggles he was supposed to configure inside the unit before installing. Once that installation error was resolved it worked very well. I get about 17.3kW on the car side.

I also have the Porsche wall charger and love it. Works well and looks pretty nice in the garage. It sizable on the wall.
When building my car I thought I ordered the fast charge options but sadly I must have missed that option and did not realize it until I installed this charger. So now I have a charger that can deliver 19.2kw but my car cannot handle it!! I looked at getting the option installed but it’s not worth the spend for me just to pick up a little bit of charging time. I normally charge from midnight to 6am and never had an issue getting it back to 85% or 100% when needed for long trips.

I put in a PWC knowing that it was more than my car needed, but it gives me the flexibility of optioning 19.2 kW on a future build. And I agree, the price was reasonable.

That’s what I figured, I am set up for future cars.

25k DC requires more than 100 amp break - and there is no timer/profile/schedule or SOC % support for daily charging with FastDC charging

it's a great option but not really awesome for daily use.

There are 150kW 400V chargers from Delta all over Ireland. – installed by the state company that runs our electrical grid. My heart sinks when I have to use one. They are probably the most problematic charger manufacturer when it come to Taycan and the DC handshake process.

The same happened when I've used their chargers (run by Mer) in Norway – so it is not just a local thing.

I'd stay clear of anything from Delta when it comes to Taycan. Other car manufacturers do not seem to have the same difficulties – so it could very well be a Porsche thing.
