Why no remote locking on MY 2020?

I am sure this is covered elsewhere but I couldn't find the exact answer that I was looking for, so apologies if this is a duplicate.

I understand that we DO NOT have remote locking/unlocking with My Porsche Connect but what I don't know is WHY NOT? Seems like an incredibly easy thing for Porsche to do. I have this in other cars but not my Taycan.

What am I missing?

I don't see a way to lock or unlock my Taycan from the app. What am I missing? I can see my lock status but can't find a way to lock it.....maybe I am an idiot (not outside the realm of possibilities!!)

If some reason you don’t have that button showing up in your MyPorsche app, I have a vague recollection of a couple of posts on this forum where not all of those buttons showed up. I don’t recall the resolution unfortunately.

Edit: we posted our last 2 messages at the same time. I wish I could remember the root cause for this issue.

Does your 2020 have the newer software (with the colored icons)?

Well....I found some old threads on here that confirm that it is NOT possible on MY 2020 Taycans...which brings me back to my original question: WHY NOT? I am not an engineer but I find it hard to imagine that this is in fact a hardware issue.

I meant the icons on the PCM in your car.

The old icons were all monochrome (the old Taycan software). The newer software has color on all the icons. I believe this is irrelevant though as it seems you are right that 2020 Taycans don't have this feature available. This is really surprising.

I read in the Porsche Connect manual that lock/unlock feature from the app requires a security to be set. It a matter of fact the app prompts for the PIN code when tapping the unlock button.
Just wondering if the feature is disabled in the app if no security code is set.
