Clearly I need to move to CA. Better skiing too. I'll stay with my brother in Soda Springs once his house renovation is finished.
Reading the automotive articles "testing" the 2025 Taycan, and the Porsche release about organizing it, I now better understand why such auto reviews by the "automotive journalism" media are manipulated, fan-boy junk.

327kW peak and 200kw up to 75%SOC. Impressive.
But how much this high speed charging will degrade the battery over time ? We need to see a graph because at some point some of us will own the Taycan for many years.
I have my Macbook for 6 years, iphone 3 and probably my next EV I will keep until next gen is out.

Great looking updates. I’m not sure why some are so salty about the changes…they’re all great in my eyes and represent what is needed for Porsche to be competitive with the Taycan in 2024/2025.

I can’t wait for a few more details but this release a few bits of info day by day seems to be Porsche PR style these days.

This has been the "dirty little/worst kept secret" of the symbiotic relationship between automakers and the automotive media since time immemorial.

Absolutely, nothing new there at all. If anything it’s slightly better now than it used to be when all car reviews appeared in printed magazines. There are a few YouTube channels that allow people to speak more freely than was possible in the old days.

As always, well developed critical thinking skills are good to have - and that applies to all of life, not just car reviews!

At a glance no changes at the outside. When you look closer the changes are minor. Happy my Taycan will not look old next to this newer model. Hope there will be a retrofit for the headlights, I like the new design!
I personally don't like the headlights on the revised version. I get that the new set up if more aerodynamic, but it looks kind of boring to me. I like the looks of your current car more!

What's interesting from the official release is the last line which says, "The extensively revised Taycan will be presented in a few days." The article from just last week (arctic circle one) referenced a launch in a "few months". I guess revealing and launching are two different things, but that seems like a sizable gap
This jives with the anecdotal evidence that I'm seeing. I tried to order a 2024 RWD last week and there are no allocations anywhere - for any dealer in SoCal that I contacted. So the change to the new design must be imminent. They still had incoming orders for the other trims (4S, GTS, etc.) but I only saw them going out a few months when one of the dealers let me look at their computer. I ended up purchasing an inventory car that matched my desired spec at another dealer.

But does anyone else have the power of suggestion that Porsche wields (even on some of the more respected motoring journalists) when it comes to what is more sporty, where the sweet spot is and how the 5% improvement delivered by option X is transformational?

We realize that conditions were nearly perfect for this public event. But with 12 different media driving four Taycans, one with 22’’s, one a 4S Cross Turismo, driving them over three days, each getting over 300 miles, and with quite a few over 325 miles, this is a major improvement. Of all the reviews, the backward calculations by Edmunds that a 2025 Taycan with the big battery most likely has one of about 106 kW, that alone is a nice piece of the enhancements.

As the risk of not pleasing some here, it is human nature that when a new model comes out, most who are not in the market for a new one find the improvements de minimus (or worse) and those who are in the market for a new model, get excited about some or most of the changes….

The test is here:

1- I hope that we get the new instruments cluster as an update on our Taycans. (it looks the same that the one on the Macan)

Porsche Taycan Facelift 2025 Taycan RWD range and charging tests posted 1706902014186

2- a quick math: at 35% the displayed range is 91mi which is 260 mi (418 km) full range according the guess-o-meter. That's probably the range when it is driven like a Porsche (I am guessing that they were not testing it very gently during the 2300+ mi shown on the dashboard)

I think that has more to do with the installed capacity in the U.K.
I have not seen 270 kWh but certainly very frequently 265 kW on road trips at Ionity. The car can do it, no problems. Whether you want to do that a lot is anothef question. 325 kW sounds insane!
I think that's the reality how often would you want to attack your battery to such an extent. Personally I wouldn't and would always have the limiter in place in any event. For the few times I've had access to 300 / 350kW EVSEs (including my Porsche centre) I've taken the throttle off to see what number I reach and as mentioned never spectacular. Even at 150kw I'll get 146kw for a brief period and then settle at 105 / 95.

I suspect my battery is never as conditioned as it ought to be and normally I don't public charge that often - once a fortnight at most.

For me it is not about the range in one trip perse, but an improved range means I might can skip a few charge sessions. That is my number one reason why I specced the battery plus 1 year ago, it will save me at least once a week of having to charge (at home). With a larger battery in the new Taycan and thus an improved range will do nothing to my commuting, but will save me another time a week charging.

Super lazy from me, but convenient
