Still think gen 1 looks better overall. The sport package on gen2 does look good. It’s a hard pass on the non sport look for gen 2 for me. With such a large power difference between gen 1 and 2 (200lbft in most cases)it would be great if Porsche released a software update to split the difference for the old cars. Range doesn’t bother me but we do need more working chargers.

I found this interesting in the pdf that was published. They spent 11% of the development costs on the infotainment ! To me that is quite a lot for such a limited item compared to efficiency, charging etc.

Completely agree on the design part) I am surprised that it took Porsche so long to introduce Soft close function for doors?
I do also hope that current users will get at least some nice software updates (like that battery view in the main cluster with current predicted charging rate)

I still think Porsche are being short sighted with the residual values. Strong residual values translate to strong new car sales and they should be doing something to prop these up, with software updates amongst other things. There will be a hell of a lot of people wary of buying a Taycan II consdering the crazy depreciations the first gen has endured.

And even the business owner argument doesn't stack up - I have my own business and purchased a Taycan Turbo due to the tax breaks available and a healthy discount. But would I buy a Taycan II (with likely no discount) when the tax breaks don't come anywhere close to offsetting the crazy depreciations we've seen? It pains me to say probably not.

P.S. Absolutely love the car and hate the negativity around it due to dropping values. It's a beautiful thing to look at, glorious to drive and puts a smile on my face every day.

@Avantgarde @whitex I’d recommend watching the autogefuehl video on the refreshed taycan (link in the first post of this thread). It includes a short drive, demoing the Active Suspension in ‘sport’ mode (anti-dive, -squat and level side-to-side), as well as ‘comfort’ (banking with the turns). Push-to-pass (if optioned) is available in any mode.

I picked a few other interesting bits:
- the power meter graphics are a bit more subdued
- the center compartment lid is unchanged
- that, and the DPC videos give a better sense of the exterior changes

Edit: oh, and that lighted lettering at the rear is just ghastly. I’d pay to have it disabled.
I can't find the bit with the lightshow, but from the description I'm picturing a red dot matrix LED scrolling like horse race results at the OTB my dad would drag me to as a kid. Give me a timestamp estimate? I've previously joked the only thing my car is missing is a disco ball, but this light show doesn't sound like something even I'd like, which is saying something (I don't know what though).

I didn't look closely enough last night... did they nix Frozen Berry?? When I saw the Provence in the Macan EV I was glad they didn't bring FB over and kept it as an original Taycan color. Maybe it's my psychological choice bias, but I'm really glad I have the car I have, even if the tech in this refresh looks like a welcome upgrade.

Edit: I see they kept Frozen Berry now that I see the configurator! Ooooh I LOVE shade green. I wish that was in the Macan EV!! I have a house to sell and was gonna budget a little of the proceeds on some new furniture, but now I want 10 Taycans and definitely can't cover that. Dammit.

I've checked the France configurator but no GTS so if I had have waited I would have ended up with a 4S and the same power but cost me more money so no brainer for me and I'm happy I didn't wait for the Gen 2.

I'm not keen on the cosmetics of the Gen 2, it just doesn't look as good/unique. I like the tech, but not bothered about range but like the sound of the active suspension. Being a GTS owner and being no GTS Gen 2 I wonder whether this will help my residuals a bit. It may at least make it easier to sell although no plans to sell for a good few years yet. I guess it depends on when or if we will see a Gen 2 GTS.

The lack of real improvements in PCM other than UI changes and additions makes me wonder if the operating system changed to android for the gen2 Taycan. The HUD isn’t even with AR so feels like the same “old” hardware as gen1 Taycan. Maybe it is wish full thinking, but like last summer there could be an update coming like uPdate right?

Yes I would be very surprised if they have changed the OS in the PCM for the old J1 platform. I do not believe that platform will be there for Generation 2 of the Taycan in 4 to 5 years. More likely the new SSP platform that will replace both MEB and PPE platform.

That could mean that coming 4 years we will still get OTA’s right?

While I recently bought my Porsche Sport Turismo (stil waiting for delivery) for a very nice price because of the facelift that was coming I'm still happy that I have the older version.

First I thought: DAMN such a difference in range! Would I cancel my order and take a new model?
But at second thought: I would pay 15000 Euros more than what I have paid (with +- the same options) for my Taycan ST.
And at third thought: I find the front end less beautiful.

Some option are now part of the car like electric charging ports, brushed aluminum door protection, etc.
In your mind you can think: nice it's part of the car now. But the basic RWD cost +-5000 euros more than the previous model. And not everyone want those options.

What I see on the Belgium website is that de basic RWS Sport turismo has an endless list in options. Much more than the previous version. For example you can order the RWD with the bigger front brakes where it was only 4s on the previous version.

But like some people said already, minor upgrades but not life changing upgrades to sell your current Taycan.
And like in my case, I think in around 4 years the new model will be in discount (Probably for Taycan version 3) and then I can exchange my car for version 2 and it wil be more bug and problem free then the first version 2 editions that will arrive now.
