Part of my decision (back then) to get the 4 is that it’d have the same hardware as the 4s at a 17-20k discount. I’ve used LC exactly once, but wouldn’t mind (in time) unlocking the full power of my motors. It’s just software.. ?
It is just software. Now the questions is, will they make the LC power all the time unlock available as FOD or even dealer installed "soft accessory" for pre MY25 Taycans? Or are we stuck hacking this ourselves (or via tuning companies)?

Doesn't look like, but the US version was not shown yet...
Also since the car has two ports there might be a nice recall where one side will be NACS and the other CSS, i think that's the best way and maybe the car will ship like that, we will see...
This is my wish as well.

I don’t see this on the configurator. There is a wider wheel trim, but not the wing in each segment that is shown in the image above.

Where did you see this image?
Maybe in person the new wheels look better, but in my eyes they all suck. Ugly, ruin the car.

A bit of an over reaction.

The car is far from obsolete. The day before yesterday you were presumably using it for what you need, and also presumably we're happy with the way it felt, handled etc etc. That doesn't change.

The Taycan is no different in this respect to any product, including ICE cars. I wonder how many people bought a 997.1 only to see the 997.2 come out 12mths later with massive improvements to the interior and power train.

There's no new dynamic. "New and improved" has always been a thing, and product cycles in cars have been shortening for decades. 4yrs is par for the course.

On depreciation, there's been a perfect storm on the Taycan for a while as discussed on here plenty. You probably bought at the worst time, just before the clamour for getting hands on a car died down, supply eased up, national finances took a hoofing etc.

Much of this is Porsche's fault (their management of demand/supply/parts supply chain etc has been very poor) but the new model doesn't make that much difference. You'd likely have been offered similar at a main dealer a while ago.

But again, depreciation happens. People thinking Porsche were immune were kidding themselves. All 6 figure saloons/estates take a shoeing. The way to avoid depreciation is to buy used, or keep the car for a decent period of time.

I do totally agree with you on the software updates. There are tweaks they could make to PCM to improve it's usability a lot (I bet my biggest peeves aren't even addressed on the new model!), and it would be nice to think that updates to battery management (including tapping into the 10% "reserve" when plenty of other marques run less than half of that) could be made, as well as giving us ways to access the power all of the time (subject to battery and motor conditions... The push to pass button is infantile).

I suspect they won't though, and that will be irritating. The main hope is if the hardware hasn't changed...but I doubt that will matter.
They may be constrained by the cell suppliers warranty on freeing up additional capacity, pity when it's there.

Possibly. It seems to be different on the Macan....but then even the mk2 seems to be holding a good sized buffer.

Doubly annoying when the advice is also to generally only charge to 80%-85%. So that's 85% of 90% of what's physically there.

Hey ho. It does what I need it to. More/better's always nice, but not a necessity and not at any cost :)

Macan is a new model Taycan is a refresh. Still lot of development for a refresh, somewhere thay had to make a line.
I can understand but it's always strange for me that software is still such a big issues for these companies.
And HUD this is just hardware and it's so much better in Macan

Where is my turbo GT figured this would be released at the same time. It’s definitely not the turbo S we have seen testing as it doesn’t have the RS steering wheel in it.

Soooo tempted by Porsche dangling gadget carrots in front of me in my Taycan vs Macan internal debate.

The Push and Pass feature makes me want another Taycan…..
Then I remember that I have used Launch Control twice in 2 years and I have NEVER felt I needed MORE power when overtaking.
Throttle response when overtaking is astonishing, instant and a bit frightening.
I don’t think I have ever even needed full throttle.

Macan has my vote still for now so now I am tempted by the HUD so I can be smug that it is soooo much better than the Taycan.
It would be lovely but, of course, entirely unnecessary!
So much info on the screens already and ultra customisable.

So easy to justify with man maths adding ÂŁ1600 when spending ÂŁ76,000 anyway.
Please talk me out of it….

Btw I don't get the fuss around "oh this is a massive update, our first gen cars will tank in value". Does anyone really think that it would be better if Porsche kept dumping the dealers a stale car? We would be looking at steeper discounts on new cars on the lots, and Dealers would not be quoting reasonable trade-in values for 3-4 year old vehicles. A major upgrade like this was the only way to bump up MSRP and more importantly average transaction price of new vehicles so a healthy distance remains between a used Gen 1 and a new Gen 2 vehicle. Taycan is like an asset class still not discovered by a great majority of "investors", you need to pull "new capital" into the system to support the values. New model making headlines, major increase in range for example can pull new luxury buyers, who did not care before. This would help new inventory move quicker and release pressure on used market. There was already a healthy spread between MSRP and used values, (which now became healthier) and that spread is more than enough to cover spec differences between Gen 1 and Gen 2 creating almost 2 distinct markets. The critical issue was for new cars to hold the line as close as possible to MSRP, and this update should help in that regard.
I wonder who the buyers are for the 2025 Refresh as I think we the buyers are all spent who purchased the first 150,000 made, lots of used and new Gen 1 cars everywhere, and then a lot more competition at price/form/luxury/tech levels including Macan EV and new Panamera (for hard pass on EV sedan crowd), and lots of options elsewhere if someone wants more room and luxury that Taycan cannot offer for the price. After all, it is a Sedan and Wagon that are the least desirable form factors for a long time in the US compare to the crossover, compact SUV, and truck factors.

I will ask my dealer how do they plan to sell all the Gen 1 stock that has been standing there for months (mostly Base models) with main complaint being Range, and do they have any pent up demand for the Gen 2 since Range is competitive now.

A few months back the dealer told me, that 2 years ago their Macan EV list was 40 people long and then it fizzled to 4 since they kept delaying in. We were on that list but went for 2024 Macan GTS as we needed to upgrade from the 2016 Macan Turbo 3.6L model (went for 30% over market) and could not wait any longer with the original plan getting 2nd year production example in the fall of 2023, so we are out of that race for some time as we keep our cars a long time.

The point is, I would like to meet the first buyer on this forum to place the order for the refresh model of any trim and why, and if dealers are offering any discounts.

Awwww look at the rear sign - it glows :CWL:

Too bad they didn't put the updated infotainment from the Macan in but the old hardware. Guess it's not the latest and greatest anymore in terms of tech.

Let's hope Porsche hears us and at least makes the rear glowing Porsche sign toggleable in PCM via OTA updates, assuming it's currently not supported.

I might be tempted to swap to the new version...once I've had my current one 5 years and this latest version becomes available with a couple of years heavy depreciation (or waiting until that one too has been superseded by the next leap in technology).

Don't settle.
Go for it now.
