Hi - has anyone replaced their Taycan 4S brakes and what did you pay? Trying to see if estimates I've received ($9K and up for front and rear) are accurate. Did anyone use a non-Porsche shop? Any concerns with using a non-Porsche shop I should consider (although they would still use factory equipment)? Thanks!

Ridiculous. Should be able to DIY for $200…$500 with the “Porsche Tax”.

Check Suncoast Porsche for prices. Assuming you have the surface coated brakes, and assuming you need 4 new rotors, then the estimates you got are reasonable for O.E.M. parts. If you have the standard brake system with iron rotors then the quotes are way, way high.

Yes - replacing PSCB and rotors got me to $9300 non-dealership...does it matter if I have another brake installer put them on and save on non-Porsche dealership labor mark-up?

Thanks. Checked Suncoast - rotors and pads all around are about $7300. $2000 in labor seems high. Will press on!

Is there some reason you think you need new rotors?

I'm expecting the worst - but will have it all inspected first - hopefully I can just replace pads...

If you don't feel any surging when the mechanical brakes are engaged then you probably don't need new rotors. Make people prove to you why they want to replace the rotors since most of the time a simple pad change is perfectly acceptable.

Pretty sure PSCBs get rotors and pads at the same time. Not an option..

I have no idea. That would suck to have to do them both at the same time, every time.

I was curious, too - rotor replacement intervals on an ICE are pretty long, and this would be the first case on a Taycan in the 2+ years I've been following the forum. How many miles, @Schlossj?

23.7K miles on my 2020 (40 months old) - the Suncoast chat technician said you can change just the pad but the dealer / brake shop said you “probably” have to change both…so I’m still unsure what the right answer is.

That mileage seems really low for needing a brake job, especially on an EV. Did your dealership recommend this? Do you run it at a track ever? It would be a shame to replace stuff that doesn't need replacing if it's just a matter of a service center trying to get more business.

This is the problem with Porsche brake upgrades on anything but their top tier sports cars. Lots of cost up front and for repairs but for relatively little return….especially for EVs.

Even a std pad and rotor replacement on my Panamera was $5K.
