That is the PDCC graphic, showing the anti-roll illustration. When turning the blue bars on either side move up to show the amount of counter balance needed.
Ah, I don't have PDCC so my car would never display that. Thanks for letting me know.

I've grown to love the heads-up display, which has the speed and power meter. So instead of duplicating that on the dash, I have the map in center. I don't really use it in favor of Apple CarPlay in the main screen. Left tube has street signs, right tube has media.

  • Left - tyre pressures (because there are no other options that are more useful)
  • Centre - map (ditto the above). Occasionally the Powermeter (more intrigue about what power was available at low charge)
  • Right - combination of media/trip/information
  • HUD - directions, driving assist and speed/signs (only really use it on longer runs...can be distracting on country lanes)
I'd prefer it if Porsche gave absolute flexibility of what to put in which tube. Trip info in the left, media middle, information right, sport chrono HUD....why not! Nav left, tyre pressures middle, driving assist right, power meter HUD....sure!
What do you mean by combination? Is it like a customize option or you vary between?

Either tire pressure or g-force dot in the left, map in the middle during the day, night vision camera in the middle at night, media in the right if i'm listening to music and switching sources, or trip info in the right if i'm listening to a single long-term source like a baseball game.

The amusing thing is, IMO, that once you've decided to allow 4 options in one, 3 in another, 7 in another etc etc... It's actually harder to manage than just allowing freedom.
Mmmno. Imagine that each tube is the viewport associated with the root of a tree of information, and can only show info captured in that tree. It actually makes a lot of sense, and would avoid nonsensical combinations (either with all-duplicates, or completely leaving out essential info - consider a “free” arrangement of music, 12V battery voltage and g-force).

I definitely wish for slightly more flexibility - specifically in the area of trip/info. I constantly have to toggle between the two views, and even cycling through them (as on my ~10yo Macan) would be much better. Hopefully it’s a J1.2 improvement that will trickle down.

Why do "nonsensical" combinations matter? Why should Porsche or anyone else care if I want media on 3x tubes? :) It's putting those constraints on proceedings that makes the programming more hassle (though still hardly programming a lunar lander :)).

Either way, it would still be very straightforward to program a system that allowed what is seen in a tube to be selected from a list (check. Does it now. Just an arbitrarily curtailed one), and then just present the same list for the next tube minus the ones in the other two.

Technically this should be a piece of piss.

I’m not contesting that it would be trivial to allow anything, but I suspect (though don’t know for sure) that certain information must be displayed at all times. That kinda sets some “specialization” prerequisites for the display, and so displaying anything anywhere begins to be not so trivial.

In any case, I think we need a “shrug” reaction to posts on this forum, to indicate the sentiment that “I kinda agree with you, but not enough to like it”.

It's not something that would prevent me buying a car...but I do find it frustrating that it's so close and yet so far in some areas.

The "info must be displayed at all times" is demonstrably false as I can choose to not display any of the items in any of the tubes at any time :) The mandatory stuff (seatbelts undone, lights on etc) is in set portions of the display that no customisation is possible on.

If Porsche paid me for a year I reckon I could sort all the cruddy bits no bother :D

Tire / Power / Info, center screen is Android Auto on Google Maps split with Spotify.

I'm obsessed with TP after having two nails on 4~5 months. I can't let go of it now.

I like the power meter to see when regen kicks in when starting out, then the focus is mostly "don't get a ticket," so the big number in the middle without much extra is helpful for quick glance for me.

Haven't found anything on the right that really helps me yet. Of all the stuff I landed on battery temp on the info screen more out of curiosity than anything else.

I used Android Auto exclusively on my previous GMC truck because the infotainment system was so bad. I've gotten used to it to the point I prefer it over dealing with the OEM attempt. I will say, the ride height selection screen is often pulled up as well.
Likewise with the Tire Pressure.

Same reason, several nails in a short time-span. I monitor it like a hawk now and check tires weekly.

I've also developed an obsession to having perfect, manufacturer recommended cold-tire pressures given the constant display of pressure monitoring.

Stopping at red lights I toggle between pressure and pressure difference and adjust accordingly.

I typically use this:
Porsche Taycan What do you show on your instrument cluster on your Porsche Taycan? 1715765316908-eq

and when experimenting with car internals, something like this:
Porsche Taycan What do you show on your instrument cluster on your Porsche Taycan? 1715765407301-l5

Before you ask, the right tube above is a debug menu which can only be enabled by tinkering with the car internals - it can be set to display different information.

An interesting side note, a Cayenne I recently drove had this mode, in which you could not change the individual tubes:

Porsche Taycan What do you show on your instrument cluster on your Porsche Taycan? 1715765594303-58

It was the only mode with 5 different displays, which implies Porsche thinks this information all together is somehow useful to a large number of customers (no other 5 tube display possible).

Off topic; not that the Taycan has amazing UI graphics but something about the Cayenne here makes this very 90s-esque. I think it’s the gradient in the grey fill. I feel like I’m looking at Windows 95.
