No single range number result would be fair to report here due to weather conditions, but not bad results at all at an average 71 MPH in his today’s trip.

A different driving test thanks to “It’s Only Electric” on a 2025 RWD Taycan, and also containing interesting results on specific tests, e.g., twice bettering Porsche claims.

Agreed. 307 miles equivalent with those tires/wheels, measured 71 MPH averge, and the less than excellent weather condtions he experienced is a good result.

I really hope Porsche passes over the J1.2 user interface to J1 cars. The additional battery information gauge is awesome

So 261 miles @ 85%… that is pretty cool.
I did interpret that guy Rifa’s test result very different!
I acknowledge it was not so warm and the road conditions were damp etc, but I strongly question his test and its result.

His test, which is consistent it seems for all cars, is done at driving the cars about 200 km’s (120 miles) and measuring the consumption. He then took the consumption of 22.5 kWh/ 100 km and divided the net battery capacity of 97 kWh by this value. He then subtracts some 3% loss for charging etc and comes up with a range of 418 km’s. What would that deduction be for?? And why? That is only about 66% of WLTP! Total range is the only 260 miles from 100% according to him.

I strongly question his method on two grounds.
’One by only driving about 200 km in these conditions there was probably a lot of energy used just to heat up the battery. I have seen crazy consumption figures at so short ranges in cold weather.

Two he then did a charging test but I do not know if he navigated to that charger and thereby consumed power for preheating??

He really should have charged to 100% and then driven the car to very small percentage and given his conclusion.

I do not look at anything that guy says or concludes personally, because he seems to be teaching granny how to suck eggs in his reviews.

I watched this video yesterday, and I agree, he's just awful. His test was far from scientific, so much so I wouldn't trust the numbers at all. He also kept getting the nomenclature of the batteries mixed up (Performance Battery/Performance Battery Plus). I also watched another video of him talking about the new Macan, and it was full of mistakes and nonsense opinions. He even ordered a Macan Turbo then cancelled three months later, no doubt because he was always going to cancel it and he just wanted clicks.

I also think we have concluded that the consumption figures from the Taycan, are all over the carpet. Especially for shorter trips.

Having owned a pure EV now for a while (iX M60), with our level 2 charger inside our garage, I have concluded that range is close to irrelevant to us over 98% of our days. Of course we do not commute a large amount every day —AND our EV has good range.. If I were a salesperson who drove all day I would feel differently of course….

When we do road trips, we plan ahead and they all have gone as planned or better than planned (because we always embark with a “Plan B” for each of our stops and/or the trip as a whole). We have been very lucky and never once needed our Plan B Charging location though once we had to slow down to 60 MPH on the interstate bucking 40 MPH headwinds to make sure we would not need our Plan B location charger. And we have yet to do a cross country trip.

As my daughter told me day when we we first brought our EV home (she had then had Teslas for years), range is something that non-EV owners talk about all the time but owners quickly enjoy their EV’s without anxiety, i.e., they just made another long distance trip in theirs.

Yes, guilty of being an optimist, and also guilty of before leaving town on a road trip being a pre-route planner.

I love the @OutofSpecReviews tests and presentation. Very close to real life and actually pleasure to watch. Kris Rifa is just way too annoying to watch. I remember him driving around Oslo - the richest capital in the EU / world, with highest percentage of EV usage in the world counting taycans proving they are almost as common as teslas :CWL:

However, that "Hello it's Schmeee" dude is somehow more unlikeable than Kris Rifa :CWL:
