I drove 2021 4S and 2022 RWD loaners on long trips before making my purchase decision more than 2 years ago. I felt that 4S was a bit too heavy when going up the highway ramps and RWD was too slow off the line in daily traffic. My goal was a no compromise build given any trim with options that I wanted would be expensive, so I stretched to the max to get exactly what I wanted, which is a 2023 Turbo that I absolutely love with no issues to date but fully realize that major things can happen at any time to spoil the experience. Currently, waiting on the Brake Hoses recall to be completed, specifically looking to see if the PSM update will make the brake blending even better, but I am not complaining on how it works now.

I have exceptional relationship with my dealer, so when my wife's Macan went in for some warranty work, they gave me a brand new 2024 RWD. I was expecting the same experience in daily traffic as in slow off the line until getting up to speed. Somehow, this is not the case at all, as it gets up and going with no hesitation, giving me a wow feeling, that something is different, thinking they have reprogrammed the torque curve from the earlier model years of RWD. I have been driving it now in the city for 2 days and having no shortage of power from a stop or at speed. I have not tried it on the ramp but will definitely do it before returning it. I will have to drive a 2025 base with even more torque to see how it compares.

Bottom line: I have been so impressed by the power, so felt compelled to share it here. The steel spring suspension is the thing of the past for the refresh model, and I can see why. The handling on the steel springs is probably the best that anyone can expect with smooth comfortable and floaty feeling over smooth roads and very compliant on round abouts and turns, but as soon as the road get a little rough, the ride gets uncomfortable but may be better on smaller wheels and softer tires as this example has 21-inch wheels with Summer Pirelli tires.

Other things I noticed that are different are: Ionizer tile has Air Quality info that I do not have, Center Console has a spring in the lid to keep it half open, and somehow on my latest drive Climate Control Sync button would not go into sync mode and consolidate two temp controls into one. Standard Interior looked very nice as it is new but any other loaners I had before with miles on them felt worn out. Plain White exterior color looks a little too plain, so I am not sure why they discontinued Carrara White for the fans of metallic white colors.

I've been driving my 23 RWD for 1 1/2 year now and recently had a loaner 2025 model when mine had the brake recall done. That is noticeably quicker than my own 23 model. I don't miss the power in my daily driving but I could definitely feel a difference.

Regarding the spring in the center console, my MY23 built in March last year have that too - Not sure when that changed.

Oh and the PSM update makes a difference too. My brakes feel way more consistent after the update.

Very helpful. I wonder if you could share if your 2023 RWD has a PB or PB+ battery and also what battery your 2025 RWD loaner had. This is the slide that I have shared before showing kW peak differences in RWD base where for the 2025 the hp rating went down on a PB+ with LC variant but the torque and 0 to 60 mph performance went up.

Oddly, I have noticed in the past few days that my climate control has come out of synch mode (I never change it) and I’ve had to fiddle with it in order to get it to synch again. Weird….my car is 2 years old.

I had the brakes and passenger heater recall done in September and was give a new white RWD loaner. In terms of looks prefer first generation. I was also surprised by the RWD performance - definitely slower than 4S, but livable with for city driving. The real revelation, however, was the steering - so much nicer and more alive than my car. Loaner had 21" rims but was really smooth. Interior was base and definitly a step down. Overall was happy to be back in my car but would not dismiss a RWD out of hand.

2024 RWD showing this below that matches my 2023 exactly.

Software version: MPR3_US_POG46_K3882
PCM Software Information: 3882
Hardware: H9J1035092BD
Text Version: MIB3_GUI_37.32_20230215

I can only assume that Ionizer Air Quality feature was introduced with 2024 models as I am missing it in the 2023 Air Conditioning screen.

Mine is a PB+ variant and the same goes for the loaner. At highway speeds I did not really feel a difference but 0-60 felt different surely.

I've never understood the knock on RWD performance off-the-line. My previous Porsche was a 2003 911 Cerrera and I don't think my '21 RWD with large battery is more than a decimal point or two slower off the line. It seems to have a similar power band while driving in town or passing on the highway. The top line, of course, was faster with the 911.

I can see wanted to have one of the fastest stock cars in production like the Taycan Turbo (although that isn't one of my goals) but that doesn't make the RWD a dog.

New 25 RWD here, and it is very quick, I appreciate all the other models are even quicker- test drove a turbo s and was very worried that I’d be disappointed by the RWD when it arrived but I’m not. There’s honestly more that enough off the line speed. I have the performance plus battery so 4.1 to 60. And at speed 35-70 I’d argue you won’t notice a lot of difference between models.

Final thoughts on the 2024 RWD in case it helps someone.

Standard Interior in Black grew on me as fitting the base trim.

Power was the biggest surprise as it felt a lot more than 2021 and 2022 I drove before, but most likely due to PB+.

Center console lid now has a spring to keep it open in the 2024 and in my 2023 but that was not the case in earlier models and a complaint.

Steering was very heavy, center weighted, and not variable at speeds, uncomfortably so. Mine is lighter and more natural, and just perfect.

The loaner was white and brand new but the film in front of the rear wheels already yellowed. Mine has pro PPF and that film was removed before applying PPF.
