Beware when using a theoretically very fast charger if it's only giving you an actual slow charge rate ...
My car was at 10% battery towards the end of a long drive.
The battery was conditioned using the Porsche Charging Planner, so was ready for a very fast charge.
I needed a very small charge to get home.
I pulled up at a bank of new Gridserve 350 kW chargers.
However, the charger was only delivering 31 kW - it was the same for all of the 3 (of 6) new chargers that were in use. Maybe they were bedding-in because they were new.
The fee in the Porsche app was £10.25 for 8.93 kW (I only needed a small charge to get home).
So, an average of £1.15 per kW!
How can Porsche justify these charges?
Especially, when the retail [and very expensive price] Gridserve price would have been £0.79 per kW.
The main problem is the per minute "blocking charge" of £0.33 because they apply the per minute charge on the theoretical output of the charger and not the actual speed it delivered at.
Given the low Taycan sales, massive depreciation and generally lots of niggles, they should be going out of their way to make us really want to buy another car from them.
They should abolish the per minute blocking fee for all charging - which oddly they have done for the 350 kW Ionity chargers - or make it £0 for the first 30 mins.
(My moan is based on the charging structure and customer experience, not the overall negligible charging fee.)
