I am trying to create a driver profile on the car but because the embedded sim does not work in Mauritius, I am unable to have a data connection. How do I create a driver profile? Is it possible offline? If not, how do I connect to wifi in the car?

J1.1 cars up to MY24 can't connect to an external WiFi hotspot but it may be possible on J1.2 cars.

In any event it won't help as you'll need the internal SIM to be able to connect to Porsche services.

You can't create a profile offline (that makes no sense) but you could try using a VPN service on your computer / laptop terminating in Europe and then use the web service to create your Porsche Connect ID. This ultimately will need pairing to the car's VIN which may.prove a challenge.

Again there seems little point as you won't be able to use any.of the services in the car when you try to log into the PCM with the ID that you created as your IP address for Mauritius will be blocked if Porsche don't offer Connect services.

In summary, I don't think you'll be able to do what you want.

Thanks for your reply. I was able to create a Porsche ID with VPN as suggested. I understand I wouldn't be able to use features like remote unlocking/cooling etc but I just wanted my seats and mirrors to be saved. It's annoying having to login as guest in your own car each time. I realise it's a privileged problem but I have emailed Porsche ME/Africa and hoping to find a solution to this but it does seem like it won't be possible which is such a shame.

ETA: How can I find out if the car is J1.1 or J1.2?

Model Year 2025 onwards saw the facelifted J1.2 on sale.

How old is your car?

Visual cue are the headlights as mentioned.

Seat position, door mirrors and steering wheel position can be stored / recalled using the memory buttons on the doors assuming you have this option installed

It's a 2022 Taycan GTS so too old 😔 The option isn't there.

GTS has 14-way / 18-way seats, electrically adjustable steering column and memory as standard so you have this option to store and recall positions..

My advice would be to find out in which country the car was originally sold ... then contact porsche support for that country with the request to link the VIN of your car to your porscheID.
I've been through a similar process (not in Mauritius), I needed to fill out a document with my details and submit proof of ownership (car registration with your name on it).

Atleast that would take care of the linking of your VIN to your account, but then you still have the issue of your integrated sim-card ... you really need that to be able to sign into your porsche-id.

I drove in guest mode for 3-4 months, its no fun having to deal with that menu each time you get in the car.

Thanks for your reply. The car was originally in Japan. I contacted Porsche Japan but they said that they cannot link my email address to the VIN since they need a registered address in Japan. Instead they directed me to the local Porsche dealer in Mauritius who stated that no Porsche connect services are available in our region and therefore the email address cannot be linked so I think I will have to accept logging in as guest each time.
