Recently had my '21 Taycan with 29k miles into Porsche dealer for the HVB recall/inspection and brake line recall. They found nothing wrong with my battery, but the service rep started telling me it was time for my service and gave a quote for ~$1200. I had noticed that I was getting messages inside the vehicle stating it was time to 1. Replace Tire Sealant. 2. Replace Cabin Air Filter and 3. Replace a TPMS sensor in the next 6-months. I hadn't seen any other service indicator or light inside the vehicle (although I do see 'Service Now' inside the my Porsche app.

This is the service list:

| # B | B008A040000 | Service - 4 year | 4.50 | 1205.50 | |
| 00005M | Road Test | | | |
| 00032M | Reset Maintenance Interval | | | |
| 00054R | Replace Pollen Air Filter | | | |
| 0021CN | Clean Body Drains | | | |
| 0021IN | Inspect Brake Lines, Hoses and Connections | | | |
| 0023IN | Inspect Brake Pads and/or Linings, Rotors and/or Drums | | | |
| 0054IN | Inspect Radiator | | | |
| 0055IN | Inspect Headlamp Alignment | | | |
| 0081IN | Inspect Underbody of Vehicle | | | |
| 0087IN | Inspect Windshield Wiper Blades | | | |
| 0090IN | Inspect Tie Rods/Tie Rod Ends | | | |
| 0112IN | Inspect Constant Velocity Joints | | | |
| 0113IN | Inspect Engine Coolant Level | | | |
| 0116IN | Inspect Horn | | | |
| 0123IN | Inspect Window Washer Fluid Level | | | |
| 0133IN | Inspect Condition and Function of Safety Belts | | | |
| 0135IN | Inspect Emergency Response System | | | |
| 0137IN | Inspect for Diagnostic Codes | | | |

| 0142IN | Inspect Headlamp Cleaning System | | | |
| 0160IN | Inspect Windshield Wiper Operation | | | |
| 0172IN | Inspect Steering Gear Boots | | | |
| 0192IN | Inspect Window Washer Operation | | | |
| 0218IN | Inspect Drive Axles | | | |
| 0315IN | Inspect Front and Rear Brake Pads, Calipers and Rotors Wheels Removed | | | |
| 0347IN | Inspect Tire Pressure Monitoring System | | |

My vehicle was in an accident where a large truck backed into it at low speed 2-years ago. So it was at a Porsche certified body shop less than 2 years ago and thoroughly inspected. Additionally since the brake lines were being replaced the rep stated that they were bleeding the brake lines and inspecting all the brake components free of charge.

That, in my view, leaves the dealer with not much else to do in terms of service. I informed rep that I had only seen the service indicators for a handful of items and asked him he could take are of those a la carte, but was told that they can only do full service, and additionally he highlighted the 'Clean Body Drains' section of the service, basically trying to scare me that if they aren't drained that water can get into the electrical components. Additional gaslighting, such as 'won't be able to sell/trade in your vehicle if dealership sees service as been neglected was mentioned.

I realize that EVs need less service and maintenance than an ICE vehicle, and that dealers are scrambling to find ways to make up for lost revenue. I also asked if I got the service items done at my independent third-party mechanic would the dealer reset the service indicator for me (which again I don't see inside the vehicle but only on the app) and rep flatly stated that it was against their policies and they couldn't do it.

So my main question is, how are these body drains cleaned/drained? Has anyone done it themselves? Secondary question is are these "service" items even an high priority thing to do? Has anyone on here had a Taycan that got electrical damage from now having their body drains cleared?

The cabin air filter you can do yourself, search here or elsewhere for part numbers and procedure. Not doing the air filter will not void your warranty.

I believe on your year the body drains have a recall where you remove the plugs and push out the one-way membranes, then re-install the plugs. See if that was done. The one-way membranes got clogged easily and people got water in the footwells. Here is a video.

I'm surprised you have a TPMS battery going dead. You are going to need to replace that. Not sure it's a battery or do they need to replace the TPMS? There are online sites giving the OEM part not from Porsche that is much cheaper and any tire store can replace it. No coding needed. The car will figure it out.

An inspection like listed is a good idea every two years. Not sure how much they charge just for that. Sometimes its free. Sometimes its $800. Depending on whether the dealer has a boat payment coming up.

It's missing the one thing Porsche calls for every two years, which is a brake fluid flush. Some say testing the fluid is enough, I don't say that. My flush at 2 years was billed at $199 - just about as much as it would cost at a reasonable mechanic's. But I'm sure that was cheap only because they charged $800 for the inspection on the same visit and felt badly. Some say if you had the front hoses done that's good enough, but unless the dealerr explicitly says they flushed the whole system, I don't think so.

I never received any correspondence regarding body drains (have received correspondence regarding numerous other recalls).

And yes the brake fluid was flushed as part of the brake line recall.

They quoted me $1200

UK E-tron GT owner here. Audi quoted £700 ish for my two year service which would have included brake fluid.
I pushed back on that as had the brake recall done (at the same shop) two months previously.
They agreed it would need to be done again so reduced fee to £400.
I was happy with that, not so much with the £1,200 they then charged me for 4 new boots. Though they did knock £200 off the original tyre quote when I pushed back.

I misspoke - it's not a recall, it is a service bulletin. See here.

The drains that are mandated for the service are the charging port drains.
I believe, Frankcan, that sadly, you have been mugged............

I’ve had my 2021 Taycan CPO for 20 months starting at 30K and just hit $40K so at the most driving roughly 4K miles per year in sunny warm Southern California. It has never been driven in the rain to this point.
I doubt I will do a full maintenance service every 2 years. I hope I can do service a la carte since I could see doing the brakes every 2 years regardless how many miles I put on her but any advice on other items I should consider doing based on time rather than mileage would be helpful. I doubt my cabin air filter would require replacement every two years when it does so little breathing sitting in my garage sleeping all year, every year.

There is nothing about it that only Porsche can do (unless its required for your warranty), take it to an independent garage and they'll charge maybe £250 - £300

I think i'll check my wipers and horn myself, thank you.

I would like to see them perform this one:
0142IN | Inspect Headlamp Cleaning System

I had the 4 year service for my 2021 Taycan 4S performed about a month ago. Total charge was about $1000, and that did not include the brake flush since that had been done in March when the recall for the brake line was completed. This was mostly replacing the cabin air filter, replacing the tire inflater kit, and various checks. They did not replace the wiper blades. Seemed a bit excessive, but you pay the Porsche markup. Also, I recently bought an extended warranty and they make a point that you have to perform routine scheduled maintenance to keep the warranty in effect. So, may a $1000 spent here will protect the warrant for some later high $$$ repair.

Good info about the warranty but I’m a bit surprised they didn’t at least replace the wipers…

My car is at the dealer for the inspection right now. They quoted CD$1100, and she said the brake fluid was only "topped up" during the brake hose recall and a full flush was still required.

Interesting, my dealer told me that when they did the brake line recall they had to do the flush to insure no debris or contamination would get into the system. He reset the service reminder for two years from the date of the brake line recall and said all I need to do at the 4 year 40K service was to replace the cabin filter which I did and then to replace the tire sealant which I have no intention of ever using. My service advisor agreed he would rather use the plug kit I have but suggested I buy a better air compressor than the one Porsche Included.
So I asked him what the cost would be for the multi point inspection and he said the inspection is free so I should have that done the next time I bring it in. Sounds like your dealer is not really acting in your best interest. I will be buying my next Porsche in the next 12 months to fill one last spot in my garage the way they treat their customers at the Newport Beach store.
