Recently purchased a used 2022 4s cross turismo... Spec is perfect other than the lack of an auto dimming rear view mirror.

Is it possible to retrofit, or is this something which would need additional wiring and coding by a dealer to enable?

Did a search and it doesn't seem to have been documented up to this point... ?

I am also looking to swap the mirror on my Taycan? Did you manage to get it done? Easy swap or did it need coding and rewire?

I've not attempted it yet. In still hunting for some wiring diagrams to work out if the loom is any different in cars with/without the auto dimming mirror. The mirror itself comes up on eBay quite often but I'm struggling to find the part number for the wiring part up until now.

I *think* the part number for the loom with the required plug for the auto dimming mirror is "9J1971103A", and the one without the plug is possibly "9J1971103". I can't find any images of the "9J1971103" part to compare the differences though.
Anyone with access to a Porsche parts catalog able to comment?

I got 971857511A from ebay, it came with a small plug that's coming out of the mirror. Unfortunately Porsche dealership in the Netherlands didn't want to fit it for me. Maybe ask your for a quote to see if it's something you can attempt yourself? If it's an expensive part and only little time it might be an easy job. I'm waiting for an independent Porsche specialist to get back to me for a quote but they seem hesitant with the Taycan needing online coding from the dealer for most jobs. So if it's not plug and play we might be out of luck.

Do your door mirrors dim or not?

I believe the sensor for the outside mirrors is in the part where they connect to the body of the car, small rectangle. You can also see if a mirror is auto dimming under a certain angle the first outer mm of the mirror glass look slightly different shade. Thats how it is on my Taycan (and model S).

How the hell is a car of this value not come with an autodimming mirror, something which has been standard in soooo many much cheaper cars for the last 25 years :-(

what trim did you go for that it wasnt included?

I was surprised too. I guess it's Porsches sales model to upsell as much as possible. Still didn't find a way to get my replacement mirror fitted though. Porsche dealer wouldn't do it because it's not original techquipment yada yada. The base trim on the Taycan is meh, and it's by design/marketing.

It is standard now on J1.2.

Nite that it has typically been an option for many years on cheaper Porsches such as the Macan.

Like many of these expected features always research the car before purchase or ordering new.

As new Porsche prices have risen Porsche are now fitting more kit as standard

I had the dimming on my 2023 Taycan, it seems it is not in my new 2025 gen 1.2.
Is there a way to activate it?
there is no switch to manually dimming the mirror either…

Normally a button in the bottom centre of the mirror along with a green led when active.

Odd it is not now standard given the other features of the door mirrors are.

Do your door mirrors dim - normally part of the same option?

Tonight I sat in the car and shone my phone’s light at the rearview mirror. It dimmed the rearview and the side mirrors, so I know the auto-dimming works. But during the day a car behind me used high beams and the dimming didn’t kick in.

So I attempted this over the weekend and unfortunately it's not as straightforward as getting the 9J1971103A wiring loom part and adding the mirror. The loom does give the connector to plug into a dimming mirror, however there's no plug for the loom to connect to.

I also attempted to just give the mirror 12v and ground (there's only 3 wires going to the mirror from the plug). The mirror is drawing the expected power, but it seems it needs connecting to the LIN Bus for the mirror to be told to react to values being fed by the sensors and would need coding.
Most likely reason for this is that the dimming mirror works in conjunction with dimming side mirrors and they'd all react at the same time.
The nearest example of the equivalent retrofit is on a Cayenne (https://rennlist.com/forums/cayenne...r-auto-dimming-mirror-958-a.html#post18987085)

I was hoping the mirror was 'dumb' and could adapt to light with only the 12v connected, but that's not the case.

Without the tools to do the coding or access to Taycan or e-tron gt wiring documentation, I've not much else left available to try!
Only other option is to find a 'dumb' dimming mirror from another vag group car which has the same fitment as the Taycan.

Hopefully this helps others smarter than me to pick this up in the future, or stop someone assuming it would be as simple as I did!
