Purchase of Stock 2025 Taycan stating it has Adaptive CC + Active Safe but day after buying and paying noticed it doesn't

HI All, wanted to share with you my story regarding a purchase of a NEW PORSCHE 2025 TAYCAN from authorized dealer in Malta. Day after purchased I realised that the option stated on their website doesn't have the Adaptive Cruise Control incl. Porsche Active Safe. This was an option I desired but they are saying it cannot be retro-fitted, and they are asking me to compensate me 1300EUR (because this is the cost of the add-on) which I believe is a complete fail since the value of this option is far more when you consider the useful life of the vehicle + there was misleading advertising on their part. DO you know how this is usually handled by Porsche? Maybe you have experienced this before? I am asking for a car with the same specifications, as what I purchased, at the same price but they are refusing. Kindly advise on what I can do, thank you.

Did it have ACC listed on the build sheet, but the car didn’t come with it? This happened to me with a CPO earlier this year. I was able to email Porsche and get it added. But this was a 2023 Taycan 4S.

Getting it added involved me buying the options (ACC and PID) from their website at their instruction, and then they refunded the charges to my CC. It took a few weeks for them to respond to me.

It had it on the spec sheet but didn't come with it. I checked through Porsche Malta if this can be retro-fitted but they said this is not an option - which I don't think is true. Unfortunately, customer service here in Malta is not the best. Service in the US I'm sure is much better.

The car quite clearly doesn't have ACC - no radar dome beneath the front number plate which is what you will notice on most Porsches (of all ages) which have this feature (Macan EV has a slight different implementation - no dome but a flat panel in the same position.

The compensation is reasonable I'd say but frustrating nonetheless.

If it's a "must have" then return the car - I'm no expert on the local selling laws and buyers rights in your region but check that up and if eligible return the car and source another.

Yeah, that’s why I posted the actual car and the spec sheet. It’s a load of bollocks to be honest but I’m asking here for some feedback as I don’t know what I should do.

What a dodgy bunch. Seriously, push back through Porsche corporate and tell them either retrofit this option at NO COST, or to take the car back. This is an absolutely misleading business practice and there's no excuse on their part. Threat with litigation if necessary, they sold you something different than advertised. There are consumer laws protecting you in these cases.

EDIT: also, make copies of the online spec sheet for evidence. You'll need that to back your push. Otherwise, they will remove that ASAP and you'll be left empty handed.

I have tried to check for Porsche Malta whether an email or phone number was available. No luck.

Then I've seen Porsche Malta is managed by Porsche Central & Eastern Europe. Tried to find something there, no luck either.

The only contact info I get is the same measly email you found.

If I were you, I'd try to find a phone number on their corporate headquarters, and phone directly there, describing your ordeal and asking them for a solution.

Be kind, but please make it evident in your intonation that you're angry. Otherwise, you might risk being ignored.

That's all very well BUT the small print will invariably make some caveats around the accuracy of the descriptions provided in any sale / advert.

The fact that a refund / reduction in price has been offered is generous if you still want to take the car.

The car is not faulty (another reason to return within a predefined period of time if remediation can't be achieved) but is missing a paid for factory fit option which would be termed "not as described".

Purchaser has some responsibility here to to check what they're about to purchase is to their expectations before accepting.

In this case the absence of the option is a visually obvious thing (impossible to miss) that both purchaser and seller should have instantly recognised as a problem but neither did unfortunately.

As I suggested, a fair compensation has been offered and if you still don't want the car (given the option can't be retrofitted) then simply return the car. In UK the purchaser has 30 days if an item is faulty or not as described (14 days if purchased online any reason is valid to return item for a full refund)

Exactly my point. If there’s no chance to have this retrofitted, then returning the car should be an option.

Also, I concede you’re technically right. Fine print covers corporate’s back. But big print still contained information that is factually false. And that constitutes a basis for misleading business practices.

Hi W1NGE, thanks for your input. In your reply you said fair compensation was given - so the cost of the option is 1300EUR and they gave me 1300EUR to purchase Porsche products - how is that fair if is may ask please? the value of the option should be seen over the course of the vehicle's useful life not just because it costs 1300EUR to add on, right?

You are in the EU.
Did you purchase that as a company or private?

In both cases make sure you still have proof of what you are saying (the listing or anything else).
You already requested them to remedy the vehicle to be as described, make sure you have that in writing.
You do not have to take their $1300 compensation. I would strongly advise against it, it will be extremely difficult to sell the car later without ACC.

If the purchase was private, you requested them to fix the car and since they are unable to fix the car - you have the right to cancel the contract and return the car for a full refund. If they refuse, go to the customer protection agency, they will side with you. Open and shut case.

If business, get a lawyer to write them a legal letter. The goods have to be "as described". If the goods are not as described the contract may be terminated.
If they refuse you will have to sue them, this will take a while. But because they offered you compensation this will also work for you, as they are essentially admitting that there is a problem.
