sounds like it isn't worth bothering with then if you need to have other updates for the other systems done via piwis which I assume is impossible without some kind of garage who has Porsche access willing to do them . so the main benefit (for me) of having the directions from Android auto/carplay being shown in the main dash/hud, won't even be possible. maybe the next Porsche I own will have a half decent software and update experience. maybe.

Check my 12 month old J1.2 4S ST and all looks good.
It will be interesting to see if the next version of the app can read SOH for J1.2 cars. Something Car Scanner cannot currently do.

I realise this is veering off topic, and apologies for that, but:

Has anyone considered paying their Porsche dealer to do these updates on their J1.1? They'd probably charge a day of labor or something?

Not sure it'd be worth it-you'd be paying about the cost of a new iPhone, for relatively minor updates. Although Carplay directions in the dash might be worth that for me. If that truly turns out to work on a J1.1...

They won't do it on a car under warranty, as it will void the warranty, as it's considered a modification - since it's something not green-lit by porsche central. I have asked

Interesting @bastiaan I don’t think our country is too strict with warranty. Maybe one of the PC will bite. Not sure if it is worth 500€-1000€ to me btw.

I checked my battery in July, and all of the cells were OK! In September, I got the dreaded error message for the Electrical System Malfunction. Took it in to the dealer and they found 1 cell defective! The tech got approval from Porsche and he replaced the bad cell....then it took nearly a month to get the "repair kit for battery" #9J1-898-037 D from Porsche! Just got it back, and all is well!

Glad your Taycan is repaired. Thanks for sharing the service report.
Replacing a Taycan HV battery module is not an easy job. Lots of potential variability as this battery repair walk-through demonstrates. Porsche did not make this easy.

Hi

Can someone explain to me how this ENET cable works? It is clearly no ODB2 complaint interface. Apparently, it is a connection to a car internal ethernet network. In that case, the Ethernet port in the computer needs to get an IP address. Does the Tycan electronics supply one (DHCP)?

What else can I access via this Ethernet interface next to the ODB2?

(the cable is just a wired connection to the plug. No electronics is inside)

The Taycan gateway provides the IP address

That is not correct. Without a DHCP server both the car and the computer get the IP address by using autoconfiguration. See RFC 3927.

If you connect the car to a network that has a DHCP server (instead of connecting it directly to a computer) then both the Taycan Gateway and the computer will get an IP address provided by the DHCP server. So you can connect it to e.g. your home network and work on the car remotely like this.

The physical layer through transport layers are described in ISO 13400.
The service layer is described in ISO 14229.

Some stuff is manufacturer specific.
