Hello guys…

Looking into purchasing a new 2025 leftover and found several Turbo S, around $250k sticker being offered for around $77k off per my last conversation with a dealer… so out the door without taxes would be on the $170s…

I know these depreciate extremely heavy, so where do you guys think would be a good entry for a Turbo S and not get as burned in the long run?

Thanks!

The Window Sticker view is perfect.

This very thoughtfully configured one with all the highest end performance feature added. However, it is missing InnoDrive or what is now called Drive Assist, meaning it does not have ALK (Active Lane Keep) if that matters and the other ding in my view is the VLC (Variable Light Roof) but others seem to like it and not afraid if it cracks or mulfunctions requiring replacement. Any other choices to compare. This is really good but share alternatives if you have them. Also, you have to like all Black outside and then Summer tires.

Depreciate is unavoidable, but this is the latest gen 2025 so you get all the latest improvements at a great price if they are offering that much off a brand new one that has been sitting.

Summer tires are must, black not sure but can be wrapped… looking into price 170s seems good? Or are people paying less? How much should I expect to lose in 2-3 years ownership with low miles?

Probably 50%-60%. My recommendation: If you plan on selling in 2-3 years, and you're not filthy rich, don't buy the car. It is a very bad financial decision for such a short term ownership.

~50% in three years.

Yes, 2 years 50% drop that is about right. Then when battery warranty expires at 8 years 100k miles, I expect a zero value on the market.

~50% in 3 years of MSRP $250k, so $125k after 3 years.
When paying $173k, depreciation is ~27.75 after 3 years.
Where does the $27.75K come from?

I am not an expert on this, but I'm going to present my assumptions and would be happy to hear someone more informed chime in.

My understanding is that the market focuses heavily on model year and mileage. Whether someone bought a 2025 Turbo S in October 2024 or March 2026, when you sell it in 2028, it'll be "2025 Taycan Turbo S with 10,000 miles" and be priced essentially the same as the other car, assuming the same mileage. It won't be "2025 Taycan Turbo S but first purchased in March 2026" - but happy to learn I'm wrong on this front if someone has more insight.

If you're paying $173K, I'd expect your depreciation in 2 years to be the same as someone who bought theirs last year and was calculating their 3 year depreciation.

So my napkin math would be:
2025 Taycan Turbo S MSRP new in 2025: $250,000
2025 Taycan Turbo S value in 2028 (regardless of when you purchased it "new"): $125,000

Assumes a 50% depreciation.

If you buy this 2025 Taycan Turbo S right now for $173K, it'll still only be worth $125K in 2 years (2028). That's a loss of $48K.

I personally think that's really good for a brand new Turbo S with PAR and Burmester.

I'm here to agree with everyone before me. Depreciation can be calculated as 50% off in 3 years from MSRP. With time calculated from year-of-car, not when purchased. The spec looks really good - Porsche Active Ride, Burmester, variable light roof, passenger screen, premium package, etc. Color choices are personal preference. If you're planning to keep for 5, 8, 10 years, and don't mind the depreciation, go for it! It's obviously the same decision many of us here already made. :)
