My lease ends next month and I intend to purchase what has been a pretty flawless ownership experience with my 2023 Taycan GTS ST.

I was very tempted to consider a new one which would need to be specifically a GTS Sport Turismo as is my current one. Finding CPO 2025 GTS ST is very difficult to take advantage of depreciation, and the new ones have gone up in price significantly since 2023. The only two options that I feel I am missing out on is PAR and Soft close doors. Of course the power is certainly increased as well, but I intend to do a MAPEV tune on my car to mitigate this somewhat.

First, do you think I'm missing out too much by not doing a new order GTS ST with all of my favorite options and just deal with the cost?

I do think prudence dictates with 2 kids going to college in the next few years to hold on to my beauty.

My dealer has offered to CPO my lease return car and charge $4k for the privilege. so lease buyout cost+ $4K for CPO + tax. )take my warranty to 6 years from purchase and 100K miles

Or I could just buy out the lease directly from Porsche and get an extended warranty from a reputable company (seems some sponsors on this site have offered discounted warranty packages through their Porsche dealer for inclusionary coverage for vary lengths of time and miles. ) not sure of cost as of yet.

I am leaning towards the CPO route, and then keeping the car until the end of the CPO warranty and move on at that point. Not interested in owning the car without warranty.

Any opinions appreciated or other options I am not thinking about.

I did consider ordering a Cayenne EV, but every time I drive my wife's Macan EV, I'm reminded how much I hate sitting up so high. and concerned I might regret that decision. ( edit, but a Cayenne S EV with PAR and soft close doors is a lot less than the Taycan equivalent so. . .?)

You forgot the added range but honestly if you’re happy with what you have, then I would keep it. I like my 2024 4S so much that I ended my lease early and converted it into a purchase with my local CU which gave me a much better rate than the money factor from Porsche FS.

Thanks, and yes the range improvement is significant, I glossed over it as my use case is such that the range does not affect my use at all.

Second gen ST GTS are super rare, i think that dealer never ordered them due to flop on the first gen that many got stock with them for sometimes over a year, so the only cars that are out there were a customers configurations..

i would get a CPO Sedan if that option works for you, the second gen cars are worth the upgrade, the downside is that Porsche leases are now really terrible deal, they don't have the incentives from the past and the residuals are super low

Yes, that's what I have found as well for the GTS ST. There are some new ones on lots with configurations that I don't like even if I wanted to try an negotiate a little.

The Sport turismo body style is a must for me, so between keeping my car vs getting a gen 2 sedan, I would prefer to keep mine.

Seems like I may have already answered my question in a way, unless I throw caution and my wallet to the wind and order new.

Still contemplating the CPO conversion vs Extended warranty on my lease purchase. Thinking the CPO would be the best unless someone thinks otherwise?

Personally I would save the $4k as your car has been flawless and use it towards the MapEV tune.

I imagine the cost difference between your buyout and a newer GTS would be significant and hardly worth it for a couple more options.

Your car with a tune should be significantly faster than a new GTS (no tune of course).

Just food for thought since you’re thinking of getting a tune.

Have you looked at a 2025 Taycan 4?

With a tune they run high 9s in the 1/4 mile. If speed is your goal, they’re absurd.

Appreciate your thoughts. And as I mentioned before, it would be hard for me to move to a sedan although a Taycan 4 CT might be an option if I could find one with the right options. It sure seems that a new Taycan regardless of model with the options I want is a seriously losing proposition.

peace of mind is where I’m at with regard to the cpo vs extended warranty and in my man math, the MapEV tune is a present to myself for being prudent and not getting a new Taycan. Amazing how the mind works, lol.

but a newer Taycan CT is definitely now in my list of considerations. Will need to factor in painting of the wheel arch’s and roof spoiler as a matter of preference though, along with some lowering links. And a map EV tune in addition to bring up the power levels to what I’m used to.

thanks.

I have a 2025 4. The MapEv tune is insane. Need to change my underwear every time I get on it!

I have this weird theory, that you either pay now or pay later! If I put myself in your shoes, with the kids in college factor… I’d wait until they are done or at least a few years until my car gave me a reason to upgrade. If college cost later are already accounted for and things are looking good financially then, I’d get a gen 2. My above theory still always grounds me when making big decisions and I aim to future proof purchases such as these and any electronics…. As best as possible

Either way, I’m sure you’ll do what’s best!

In September 2020 leased aTaycan 4S, then bought out the lease in August 2023 for 50% residual value. At the same time I bought a 84 month Porsche warranty.
The car has been bullet proof and I am looking forward to owning it as long as feasible.

I would put some money in the college fund, go CPO and sell the car before the CPO term is out.
thanks, this is the plan that sits the best for me. Appreciate the input.

Thanks for the encouragement, my head is saying to stick to this type of plan for sure and my heart will still be happy as well. Driving a Porsche after all either way.
