Hi everyone, I have a RWD on order but as a company car I am restricted on options and unfortunately I can't spec the air suspension.

I am a little worried about the ride height as I know the Taycan is quite low to the ground and without the lift function I can't change that.

I have had a look to try and find a measurement online but the only values I can find are for the 4S and above or with air suspension.

Can anyone with a RWD provide any info? For example can you park with the front over the kerb like most cars or would you end up damaging it?

Thanks

I have a 2021 RWD Taycan (springs only) and find the ride height not a problem. My 2014 Cayman S was a problem (finally gave up on having a rubber lip in the front!)..but the Taycan is fine...I can get in and out of my driveway w/o issues (a problem w/ my Cayman!)..to be honest, I try to avoid curbs (kerbs) in all my cars. If you want actual height let me know. I assume US and UK heights would be the same ?!

You may be able to take a clue from the overall height of the 4S and the RWD Taycan.

Porsche lists a height of 54.3" for the 4S which I assume would be in the "regular" suspension setting. The RWD Taycan has an overall height of 54.9" with the standard steel spring suspension.

Since the bodywork of the two models is basically identical, I would deduce from the above that the RWD car rides .6" higher than the 4S in regular mode. Based on this assumption, I don't think you'll generally have problems with ground clearance on your new Taycan. Parking curbs might be different issue. I usually try not to press my luck and stay back off of them with my cars, except for the 4WD pickup!

Its sounds reassuring from what you have both said so hopefully it will be fine, especially if it does ride slightly higher than the 4S in medium setting.

I wouldn't park over kerbs if I had the choice but our roads and parking spaces are a lot smaller than in the US. We don't have kerbs (blocks??) at the end of spaces, just the height of the pavement (sidewalk) and with the length of the Taycan I imagine you would have to hang over it to fit. There is no standard height but usually around 5 inches or so.

In fact parking on streets can be so bad here that when parallel parking people regularly have to be half on the pavement and half on the road so that other cars can still drive past. I think I am going to avoid those roads wherever possible ?

So, I measured the front clearance of my 4S on the level floor of my garage at the medium or "normal" ride height setting of the air suspension. (I'm fairly certain this is the level that would correspond to the nominal 54.3" overall height listed in the spec for the 4S).

The leading edge of the front spoiler is at 7.75". This tapers down to about 6.25" for the trailing edge of the spoiler where it butts up against the undertray. Based on the height spec for the RWD car, you should be able to add another .6" to these numbers to get the ground clearance for your car. I hope that is helpful.

Thank you! It's very helpful, now I just need to go and measure my parking space at work but it looks like it will be okay

You're welcome. But please do make that first approach to the kerb in your parking space slowly and carefully! :fingerscrossed:

And if you're parking somewhere while under lift (<= 30km/h maximum), don't park with the front lip hanging above the curb. When you get in and it loads up the normal drive mode and lowers itself -- well, no point in drawing a picture. Yikes.

That can be a concern for those with air suspension, however the OP is ordering a RWD car with the steel spring suspension so having AS lower the car at inopportune times is one less thing he'll have to worry about!

Having a RWD Steel-spring on order, this thread got me concerned my car will look funny because it will sit too high with the additional .6” height. Sent me down the rabbit-hole and did find some pics of a RWD Steel on 20” Aero’s which looked fine so I relaxed a little bit...but would love to see one with Mission-E’s if anybody could point me in the right direction
