I ordered a new 4S a few weeks back and it locked on 4/23. It got as far as "Scheduled For Production" with a production start date of 5/21. It's been a week and it's not moved from there. The main page still shows phase 1 of 4 (Your order is created), and the TYD page is stuck here on Scheduled for production. Dealer says "hang tight", but clearly they don't know me

I've seen other comments/posts here more on the post-production phase of TYD but have other experienced this on the pre-production side as well?

Porsche, like manufacturers of all kinds (digital cameras, stereos, iMacs and iPads) are experiencing a severe semi-conductor chip shortage, amongst other components which are heavily impacting production. As the Taycan is basically a Mac on wheels, expect delays and frankly, get used to it. I ordered my car on December 8 and it's due to arrive at my dealer on June 11. Believe me when I say, I feel your pain.

Yup, I know about the chip shortage. That said I'd expect the site to update the dates accordingly. Then I at least know at to expect.

What did you order that it's taken yours so long?

Considering the length of time, you'd think I'd ordered something exotic and really custom, but no, its just a Cherry Red 4S. Someone dropped the ball somewhere and my order didn't build until late April and finished production on May 7 and finally shipped May 27.

You'll find as things progress that the Track Your Dream (TYD) website is rife with errors and mistaken estimates--it's truly a moving target. But like I wrote earlier, and in the immortal words from the TV show Kung Fu, “Patience Grasshopper, patience.”

Same situation with mine. Mine was a 5/21 production start date. Still sitting showing not started yet. 2021 4S. Im hopeful its only a small delay. We will see.

Driving to pickup car today I was surprised on how empty the Porsche, Audi, Jaguar lots were compared to March when I ordered. Dealer said the shortages have gotten so bad if you order a Taycan today expect delivery Jan. 2022.

My TYD varied wildly from a 6/25 delivery to 5/21 delivery just while on the ship GoodWood on way over Atlantic.

I took delivery today (actually early, orig. estimate was 6/11... lock 3/15, build 4/12-19, Emden 4/20, Goodwood 4/24, Houston 5/13, TPMS recall at port 10 days to 5/23, arrived dealer 5/27).

Unfortunately the app isn’t acurrate for many but it also works for some folks. I just received my car but the app estimates were close enough through the whole process that I survived with only a few scars. Lol. They’re is no way around it the wait is tough wether the app is working or not to be honest. Good luck though you’ll have your car soon and trust me it’s worth the wait.

I checked with my dealer today and he sees what I see: still stuck waiting for production. So I think the TYD status is the real status, or as real as we are gonna get.

I guess I'll read the owners manual again...

Mine just now updated the end of production date to 6/25. Still says start production on 5/21 but it's not started. No idea why that is.

At the same time, with all these reports flying about regarding loss of motive power, maybe it's for the best... ?

No problem getting my RWD earlier than promised. Built 4/26 - 30 and took delivery 5/29. Dealer tells me chip shortage effects power adjustable steering column and 14-way seats, among others things. I have both of those options so I guess I got lucky.

Wow. TYD was pretty accurate for me when comparing to progress e-mails I was receiving.
