  1. Ford announces Apple Maps EV Routing Preconditioning for 2026 Mach-E

How do I precondition my battery for DC Fast Charging? Your Ford electric vehicle (EV) is equipped with En-Route Preconditioning. Your EV relies on Connected Navigation, Google Maps EV Routing for Android Auto, or Apple Maps EV Routing in CarPlay to know when you are navigating to a direct...
  2. Fastest way to turn off climate control?

No. I guess it's worth a try, but my previous interactions with "Hey Porsche" have not left me with high expectations...
  3. Fastest way to turn off climate control?

Ah, cool. Let me give that a try!
  4. Fastest way to turn off climate control?

I know that the behavior I'm describing here is probably somewhat OCD. I am at peace with that. :) My 25 CT has three climate modes: AC, AC ECO, and Off. I frequently don't need AC and when I don't I like to turn it off. Particularly when the Taycan randomly(?) turns it on for me. The way I do...
  5. NACS DC adapter connection order

I just got home from a trip and was pleased to find the Porsche NACS DC adapter waiting for me. (When I ordered my CT in May 2024 there was no mention of it, so kudos to Porsche for just sending me one.) The instructions say to connect the adapter to the NACS cable first and then plug the whole...
  6. "[NA] Porsche owners can now access the Tesla Supercharger network" - Porsche Newsroom

That said, you are going to plug it into your $100K+ vehicle. So maybe avoid the super-duper cheap ones and get a UL-listed model from one of the major brands (like Lectron).
  7. "[NA] Porsche owners can now access the Tesla Supercharger network" - Porsche Newsroom

Less of an issue for the J1.2 honestly. Different chemistry means that if the ambient temp is already in the 70s you’re pretty much good to go, and the Taycan kind of shrugs at the resulting ~150kW speed anyway. That’s been my experience at the Magic Dock station in Scotts Valley at least.
  8. Weird trip data

Any rain on the way out by any chance? Rain can do a number on EV range.
  9. [FAQ] - What is an EVSE?

In principle, yes. But while 60 or even 80A 240V circuits are not impossible to come by residentially, I wonder what you’d need to get 21KW out of one of those…
  10. Four years in - my best range number yet!

Percentage seems more reliable than a range guesstimate because it's a measurement (well, a heuristic derived from some measurements if we're being completely honest), not a prediction. That said, the translation of X percent of battery to Y miles/km driven may not be linear. I've had drives...
  11. Taycan Turbo GT tops Car & Driver's DC fast-charge test

The 2025 Porsche Taycan Turbo GT is the new champion of our DC fast-charge test. When charging from 10 to 90 percent, the Taycan Turbo GT averaged 213 kW, which means it dethrones the 2024 Chevy Silverado EV (198 kW). Porsche's electric sedan also peaked at 317 kW and needed just 24 minutes for...
  12. Cayenne EV

From the Porsche newsroom report that got linked earlier: "In addition to the record time of 31.28 seconds, another number caused a stir at Shelsley Walsh: the first measuring point, 60 feet (18,3 metres) beyond the starting line, was passed after just 1.94 seconds. Only single-seater racing...
  13. The great J1.2 reliability survey

I had the same app connectivity symptoms recently. I took it to the dealer last week; they're familiar with the phenomenon. My SA said that they basically had to redo the operation of pairing the car to the network. It's not something you can do from home. Apparently it's not just Taycans, the...
  14. Bay Area to Reno in a single charge

2025 CT, so facelift, large battery. 19” wheels.
  15. Bay Area to Reno in a single charge

Consumption through Sacramento was 3.8 mi/kwh, but it dropped to around 3.0 by the time I got over the pass to Truckee. I don’t remember average speed but it was pretty slow.
