Interesting discussion. The Taycan ecosystem keeps evolving quickly. One thing I’ve noticed is that having a reliable home charging setup really makes the ownership experience much better.
Excellent point...I credit my five years of trouble-free ownership experience to sensible sharging at home plus a reliable wi-fi connection to the car.

Absolutely. A solid home charging setup really makes the difference for daily use. Good connectivity with the car and charger also helps a lot with monitoring and scheduling charging.

I agree completely. It is a major convenience to hop into an 85% charged, pre heat/cool car each morning. I would not own an EV without it.

Totally agree. Having a reliable home charging setup really changes the ownership experience. I’ve seen the same with several Taycan owners — once the charging is dialed in at home, the car just becomes part of the daily routine. Much more convenient than relying on public chargers.

It’s interesting to see it that close. My impression is that many people waiting for the next generation will eventually realize the current Taycan is already a very mature platform. Porsche has refined it quite a bit over the last years, especially with software updates and charging improvements.

To your point, I just received an over the air update to the HV charging software.

I didn't think the J1 cars connected to your home's WiFi....all data activity is done through the 4G SIM.

(Unless in Russia...where oddly I believe you can connect it to your WiFi).

That’s interesting. My understanding was also that most of the vehicle connectivity goes through the built-in 4G SIM. I’ve mostly seen owners rely on home WiFi only for the charger or for software downloads in some cases. Curious to hear how others have their setup configured.

I would have thought that’s the death knell for a J2.1. Makes no sense introducing such a car in the current/ near future environment. Hope I’m wrong of course…..

Yea this was a wild article to understand the vision. Sounds like major cut backs forthcoming. Euro, and eastern sales simply can’t complete with the market. Sales not the best in US and the used market show all this. New CEO is about change and P&L. Like mentioned, I can’t see why on earth they’d want to introduce another one. It further saturates the market in my eyes. Now for us, and anyone with the ability to grab one it can be good thing. We’re only saved by the blocking of Chinas EVs, otherwise each and every auto maker would die off. Such a bleeek outlook, so get them why you can!!!!!! They will continue to support current buyers. Let’s see what Porsche does next
