There is no such thing as "porsche platform electric"...

PPE is Premium Platform Electric. It is developed for use on premium brands of VWAG. It is the current platform for all VWAG premium EV's. For example the Macan and the Q5 are on that platform, also the Audi A6 e-tron, the new Cayenne EV and so on.
PPC is Premium Platform Combustion. Same as the above, except for ICE powered cars.

The Panamera is MSB (with the Bentley Continental GT), old platform. The J1 is closely related to that. For J1.2 they took the rear motor from the PPE - as that's the latest tech VWAG has access to.
They are both actually very closely related to MLB Evo, which is the old Audi longitudinal engine platform - at least all the electronics are interchangeable between them.

Because all this is bankrupting Porsche, then most likely all the four door stuff will be PPE/PPC going forward and the only bespoke Porsche cars will be the 911's and then if a 718 replacement ever comes out.

This means that there will not be a Taycan anymore. There however will very likely be an Audi A6 e-tron with Porsche panels and interior trim as the successor to the Taycan, which will be the Panamera EV.

So we will have on PPE:
Macan EV (related Audi Q6)
Cayenne EV (new Q8 e-tron that will come out)
Panamera EV (related Audi A6 e-tron)
Technically can drop the e-tron moniker, as going forward all Audis with odd numbers are ICE and even numbers are EV.

Then on PPC:
Macan ICE (Audi Q5)
Cayenne ICE (Audi Q7/Q9)
Panamera ICE (Audi A7)

And on bespoke Porsche Platform:
911
Maybe an ICE 718, but the EV variant could be cancelled.
Audi moniker u-turn -

Didn't actually keep up with that, that's hilarious.
Now it's super confusing because they already released the new combustion Audi A4 as the Audi A5.
Not so much vorsprung durch technik but vorsprung durch dummheit!

Very much so.
I for one love the Taycan because it doesn't look like a body dropped on a battery skateboard, while all the PPE cars look like that. E.g. Audi A6 e-tron:

As a multiple-time Audi owner and previous Audi design fan, this car is a huge disappointment on so many levels. I’ll never understand that black trim above the rocker panels. I know that it’s likely meant to reduce the visual height of the side view, but to me it has the opposite effect.

Audi should never have let Peter Schreyer leave…

I can see using the same chassis for ev and hybrid in an SUV - plenty of room to insert a large battery into a ‘unoptimized’ hybrid chassis. Not so for a much lower and more compact and stylish grand touring Taycan or Panamera. Any tool that does multiple things is never as good as a specialized tool for one job. I hope they’ll keep the brands completely separate.

Taycan: keep it as EV.

Panamera: turn it into a true GT 4-seater car.

So we will have on PPE:
Macan EV (related Audi Q6)
Cayenne EV (new Q8 e-tron that will come out)
Panamera EV (related Audi A6 e-tron)
Technically can drop the e-tron moniker, as going forward all Audis with odd numbers are ICE and even numbers are EV.

Then on PPC:
Macan ICE (Audi Q5)
Cayenne ICE (Audi Q7/Q9)
Panamera ICE (Audi A7)
I think Porsche needs to rework their model lineup nomenclature, personally preferably as follows:

1) PPE ("EM" = Electric Motor; "Motor" as the ICE designation uses "Engine")
– Macan EM (5-d only)
– Cayenne EM (5-d only)
– Taycan EM (Coupé*, Sedan and Turismo)

*I think the Taycan should also come as a two-door coupé, thus replacing the smaller Cayman as a separate model

2) PPC ("CE" = Combustion Engine; is there really a need for the "Internal" clarification?)
– Macan CE (5-d only)
– Cayenne CE (5-d only)
– Taycan* CE (Coupé, Sedan and Turismo)
– 911 (Coupé and Cabriolet)

*I think the name Taycan should replace Panamera rather than vice versa, as Taycan is newer and much better pairs with Macan and Cayenne, while the older Panamera name stands out as a rather odd name in the Porsche nomenclature (initially I believe it was short for Panamerican; all-American?).

Personally I see no need for any Hybrid models offering both ICE and a smaller EM/battery, but if Porsche wants to have this as well in their lineup, then perhaps just replace "EM"/"CE" with "HY" for the hybrid variants.

Performance-wise Porsche normally offers a standard model, a sportier S model, a 4WD model, a sportier 4S model, a "sweet spot" GTS (4WD) model, a Turbo model, a sportier Turbo S model, and then the top GT3 and GT2 models; even though the Turbo name doesn't make much sense on the EM models, I think they should keep using these traditional ICE performance model names for the EM variants as well, just for consistency.

It was for the "Carrera Panamericana" a long distance race in Mexico. I think Porsche wanted to suggest that their 4-door saloon was a "long distance racer/cruiser", hence the name.

Maybe if Porsche ditches the beauty that is the current taycan platform, our cars will hold a higher residual value and cult status. :)

If it goes on PPC/PPE then we just get an Audi RS7/RS6 in different guise, meaning forget all the bespoke sportscar-like suspension setup and so on.

Makes sense from the money perspective to take an Audi and slap some panels on. They're currently doing that with the ICE Macan (Audi Q5). The only saving grace is that they'll most likely succeed in packaging the V8 4.0TT into it, so it will be somewhat bonkers from that perspective, but it's still a Q5 underneath.
Big chance on it.
So Taycan keeps only the name but the car will be a much more less sporty saloon and a mule that needs to be everything (EV,HEV,ICE) but finally will be "nothing".
Taycan looses the slim nose (ICE needs to be placed), Panamera looses the low seating position (battery needs to be placed in the floor). Etc...

The upside of this, original (J1.1/J1.2) prices will go up significantly as a unique styled relatively low number production beautiful sports sedan. Similar like the 928.

Thinking to keep mine longer after this....

Taycan's big advantage (was) developed exclusively EV.

No, PPC and PPE are two completely different platforms.
PPE is pure electric, there is no support for combustion there.

It's really quite simple, they will have dedicated platform for EV still, but it will be the platform in use by Audi.
Not a special EV sportscar platform like what the Taycan/Panamera are now, and I'd argue the Taycan is more sporty than the Panamera (hence why it is wider and so on).

It looks like a car was dropped on top of the skateboard with a face only a mother could love.
The C8 and C7 RS6 look so much better than this abomination.

So I am confused in advance... platforms, platforms, platforms....

It seems we will go back to the origins. Porsche is A 911, all others are marketing mixed with platform code names.
Whatever will be, next to the 2-door cars (911, 718, 924, 944, 928, 964) the Taycan will keep its unique status.

Most likely the 911 will be the only car with a bespoke platform going forward and the rest will be Audis with Porsche panels, no matter EV or ICE. Just like the Macan and the Cayenne are now.
