Depreciation is realized when car is sold. Ultimately, the cost needs to be understood even as you own the car, I track this cost multiple times a year to ensure my cost of ownership is tracking to my estimate.

But agreed, if you enjoy driving the car, that's where the true derived value is. Yesterday, I had a blast driving the kids around to their sports events, and on the highway I ran into 3 GTSs (1 a j1.2) and 2 base/4S models. The most Taycans I've ever seen in a day, and it was an absolute blast to drive

Sounds like a good time with the kiddos, that must be an awesome feeling. I’ve never even seen 3 Porsches in one day, not at a dealer of course. 3 Taycans…. Never! Yea I put it into my budget and that’s about it. Once my code locked, I stopped looking at car sites and everything, because I’d prob drive myself insane with the numbers. It’s now a Line item just like the maxed out 401k, IRA. Set it and forget! Funny as I’m still to cheap to pay for ad- free YouTube… but I digress

I paid €148k back in 2023, now the same spec is €168.479. One caveat; due to chip shortage I currently don't have Bose, but needed to spec it on the current model in order to get the electric sport sound option. So a difference of 20k.

To be honest, current 4s trim level has the previous gen GTS specs on paper. Not sure if the comparison is as honest as comparing just prices alone. The car is faster and more efficient.
