But is it really motor and batteries that hold the car back? I think there is many other systems that they should import before that.

Personally, I find the Taycans suspension and handling engineering excellent but the part that makes it an electric car is sadly way behind the Chinese. That’s where they should buy someone else’s solution for the challenges of making the car “go” vs “how it feels” which Porsche should “own”

It would be sad but I guess it's possible. As someone that would never buy and ICE car as a daily driver again it would effectively rule out buying another Porsche :(
Yes, but although I like my Porsche, I’m also dissatisfied with it compared to the Chinese cars at 30% of the price.

So you want Porsche quality at Chinese prices?

Even if they sourced batteries and motors from China, that 30% price isn’t happening.

If you want the Chinese cars, buy the Chinese cars. 🤷‍♂️

If you want a Taycan at a huge discount, just buy a used one.

Not at all, I’m totally prepared to pay a premium for a Porsche.
I just want its battery performance to equal a car that costs a small fraction of its price

Just curious which aspect of Porsche battery performance you aren’t satisfied with.

Capacity? Charging speeds? Energy density?

It seems pretty good on all accounts. 🤷‍♂️

As far as Chinese prices go, can’t compete unless you use the same slave labor and currency manipulation as they do. Not really realistic on that part, nor would we want it to be.

As someone that does business in China, its not slave labor, but Government subsidies/support and a different culture that make it impossible for Western OEMs to compete.

The J1.2 battery is good. it seems China is really moving forward in charging speeds right now

While my mention of slave labor is a bit of hyperbole……

They don’t really give workers much rights (at least they don’t really enforce their rights), there are also instances of forced labor. Wages are terrible etc.

It’s not something first world countries can compete with.

Some examples of the forced labor here: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Labor_relations_in_China

Count me in....... EV is the daily way to go. Our Tesla X is an absolute marvel of technology on FSD, but does not bring the smile on my face like the Taycan does.

I have a '24 ST GTS and if I had the range of a 25 I'd be satisfied.
I have a place 250kms away where I spend half my week, and I'd love to arrive there with 80kms left without needing to charge to 100%

A lucid, for the same weight, provides much more HP/Torque and range.
Not saying I want a lucid (although if they made a Wagon version of their sedan I'd be curious) but that and the Chinese cars are proof that Porsche COULD have done better.
