First time with Taycan at the track, although I’ve driven it for many years in other cars.

Street tires - Eagle F1 - were the main limitation. I didn’t pre-condition the battery and that overheated after about 8 laps of hard driving, so we pulled in a lap early.

A 911GT3 got in my way for a couple of laps… :cool:

Looks like a lot of fun! I've only run bikes on that track, would love to take the turbo s out! Do they have fast charging facilities on-track so that you can do multiple runs?
There are superchargers at the track but they only work for Teslas :-(
They don’t appear as a public charging station in the Tesla app (as they are in private land) so you can’t select it as a non-Tesla to turn it on. I tried… There’s fast chargers and superchargers that do work at Salinas Nob Hill and Monterey Del Monte Mall, so we left after session 2 and went for lunch early, had a full battery for session 3 in the afternoon, which is the one in the video.

I’ve only ever raced my road bike on that track. Am itching to take my CT4S out for a proper track day. Proximity isn’t in my favor anymore. Contemplating a run at Pikes Peak. Anyone ever do that in a CT?

Looks and sounds like you were having a great time!

The Sports+ mode doesn't really offer any useful preconditioning. It will have a higher target temperature for optimal power output, but if you sit in S+ mode prior to your session, you'll actually hit the temp limits slightly earlier than if you started with a cooler battery and just switched to S+ at the start of the session. 8 laps is pretty great considering how much power you have.

The other charging option is at Monterey Airport. They have some 67kW Chargepoint chargers there, which are slow, but it would work out if you do the 10 min drive after each session to top up rather than miss a mid day session to do a full charge at the fast chargers that are further away. Sucks though if you want to socialize between sessions.

SpeedSF - but they all use motorsportreg.com so you can look there for dates that work for you and go with whichever club or group has rented the track.
