Just back from Los Gatos service to have two rattles looked at. This is my second time there... I was there in January to change a tire due to a screw.

Knowing that rattles are hard to reproduce I offered to take the tech for a ride along when I dropped of the car yesterday. The service writer called me today saying the tech couldn't reproduce the problem after going down my recommended path 5 times and asked me to come in to take him out.

I was able to reproduce one of the rattles consistently (back passenger side) however we couldn't get the other (driver front door card) to make a sound. They said they fixed it reporting this note "REPOSITIONED WIFI2 ANTENNA ONTO ITS BRACKET AND CONFIRMED". This improved the rattle so it's not a near constant but it still shows up on bumps unfortunately. I'll keep monitoring and try to figure out the front one (I may try the plastic washer trick since I can stop it by pressing my elbow against the door card).

They also applied campaign WSQ7 " Re-Programming High-Voltage Voltage Converter Control Unit ". Didn't know I needed that... is that the one that lowered the 11 kwh charge to 9? My home charger isn't powerful enough so I won't see a different I don't think.

Finally they set all of my tires to 41 PSI :\

Over all on both visits they've treated me well and honored my request not to wash the car.

That you can't see?
I will definitely see them. Most people probably wouldn't though.

The problem is that some dealers have car washes they use (touching the paint with dirty brushes... don't know if Los Gatos does or not) and all of them have kids doing the work that don't know what they are doing, using dirty rags to push around dirt.

Have rattle on the driver door too, my car is in Steven Creek Porsches waiting for replacing glass roof. First one that they installed isn’t working (I have VLC) so now waiting for part from east coast. Anyways they couldn’t reproduce the door rattle when took the car for a ride either I am going to offer them to drive and show them. Not super annoying rattle but since the car was there asked them to look at it.

Dealers don't know how to wash cars, most do terrible job and damages - alway choose not to let the dealer wash it for you, let them vacuum the interior at most.

Interesting. I've always let the service centres wash the car as part of their service.

I have an odd rattle in my ST, coming from the trunk area, almost think the rear hatch isn't closing tight. Anyone had that?

My head went there when the tech mentioned it was coming from the back and not the door card. Guess it wasn't but I'm still hearing things when I go over a bump, but just for split second. This could easily be where the back seat attaches to the locking mechanism (so it can be lowered).
