We took our Turbo Sport Turismo for 2,500 miles of wonderful Spring driving through France, northern Spain, Portugal (as far as Porto, then the Duero Valley), and through the Picos de Europa, a mountain range in Northern Spain.
We started with the afternoon ferry Portsmouth-Caen (and...
J1.2 so I have skip track already.
Steering wheel: sport sound on/off (useful when approaching a cyclist or driving through a pedestrian-rich area)
Console: turn off the mandatory speed bong
In my travels through FR DE NL ES GB PT etc I have found that the Porsche Charging Service Plus is a very good deal - it;s cheaper than native prices on many networks. And simpler than messing around with multiple accounts for different networks. To the point that I’ve stopped using other cards...
Has anyone had trouble using their Porsche card to start charges today?
Minebhas Failed to authorise on three different chargers in Portugal. I’ve been able to start the charge from the app on two of them but the card should work.
One of the charging providers said there was a problem with...
Thank you but the OP is from the UK, you are from the US. It's a different story in the US.
In the UK almost NOONE has 3-phase power (required on a 240V system to deliver 22kW) at home. And putting it in can cost £10,000 because they need to dig up the street. There are of course exceptions...
This whole paddle idea seems like a waste of time (or plastic). Just more buttons, made to look like something they are
I drove an horrible Audi eTron SUV once that had paddles to adjust regen. Completely pointless. I think they were just there because Soccer Mom expects to see them even though...
It gives you the ability to accelerate harder - just pushing the button does nothing itself.
There is a screen on my Turbo that shows power and you should see the additional 70kW boost there.
It even works at autobahn speeds >200km/h :)
Now had a stuck charging port door (3x), a random yellow electrical error, a boot that stopped opening after it leaked, and a comms failure requiring hardware replacements. The first two resolved after a sleep.
But the J1.2 is still more reliable than my previous J1 which needed towing three...
interesting - I have the same strange problem.
Each time I’ve had to leave the car to sleep for a while, then on restarting push the down button on dash, hold the door with my hand, then it does a full reset. There is a YouTube video of this procedure somewhere.
the message about right port...
Its main benefit is to signal to other drivers that you are coming alongside them on your lane - a subtle safety cue. As such I think it works very well indeed.
Yes, fair point :-) especially this year. This is why my Morgan is hiding in storage at the moment. But on a decent Spring/Summer/Autumn day, oh boy is it fun.
The conversation has got nowhere: there is no consensus about anything that's better than the Taycan.
So Plan B:
Keep the Taycan and buy something with real class, speed and handling for your days off ...
Do you have the Porsche Charging Service Plus? Depending on when you bought your car it would have been included for a few years or you can subscribe. The Destination Chargers should be at AC rate, 19c/kWh in Portugal. Under that scheme, DC charging at Porsche Centres is at a low rate, same as...
You are in the UK but watching too many Americans on YouTube :)
This nonesense about adaptors is entirely a North America problem.
In Europe you use a Type 2 cable, the same as you use to connect to an AC charger at home. It is a robust standard and there are very few interoperability...
That was my conclusion last year. I just can't find any other EV which has the driving experience of a Taycan - it does have the soul of a 911, if not the noise, and it is exceptional on any corner, even better on the autobahn.
If I wanted a reliable-but-dull travelling-salesman car I'd look...
You might like to try Oli at Porsche Tewkesbury. I have found him very knowledgeable and have bought two (used) Taycans from him and sold one. Also they sorted a couple of post-sale issues extremely well. The general rule applies: the further away from London you go, the better the service.
I...
