You're not competing with Tesla by releasing a $140k+ car with inferior technology. Completely different market.
Regardless, this dealership made it up. Period. They have no more information than we do. If it's not directly from Porsche it's hot air.
Only according to a few dealers with no actual knowledge of the pricing.
The pricing structure will likely be very similar to Model S. So around 83k, 94k, 114k, maybe a Turbo S eventually at 133k.
That's always been the word from Porsche and what makes the most sense. Of course, that's BEFORE...
The Taycan won't weigh what you claim and the much bulkier, heavier iPace hits 0-60 in 4.2 seconds.
Not sure where you're getting your numbers but the Taycan S won't be heavier and slower than an iPace.
My guess is the 3.5 number is for the "S" version and the "Turbo" will be sub 3. I would...
It will weigh more than the larger Model S and the Panamera Hybrid? No.
Also there's not a chance in hell the "S" version isn't 4.2 or below to 0-60. Period.
So the regenerative braking is about the only thing I learned from this and I like the way they've chosen to do it, provided it's smooth transition from regen to hydalraulic braking.
They also mentioned how heavily it's camouflaged, which is interesting. We've all seen the photos but it's good...
Interesting that Porsche is in fact calling it a Cross Turismo, not Sport, and it should come with a somewhat higher ride height.
Cool and good news, IMO.
Indeed. Seems like it's just one of the mules.
Which, yes, is what the Taycan will look like (plus whatever flares and accents are being hidden by camo).
Will the production look better than the mules? Yes. Will it be significantly different? No. But wheels and accent flare make a world of...
You will have the option to turn off internal sound. Rumor is it will sound a lot like the formula e cars.
External sound MUST be present at a certain decibel to a certain speed, at least in the states. I'm not sure what the exact numbers are.
It's so hard to say for me.
Having driven the Model S a few times in a few different trims, even the "slower" trims are breathtaking.
If the trims come down to just an increase in speed, I'll possibly consider the base.
If the trims also incrementally increase range, I'll probably go mid...
Yup. Honestly it can't be understated how much impact the wheels, paint job and camo has on the appearance.
In particular that clean white paint with those giant custom wheels looks so good.
The mules with small, mismatched tires and a camod out dirty black wrap were never going to look...
Agreed.
I've harped on this a lot but ESPECIALLY for an EV a waiting list signature does not come close to equaling a sale. I really believe a lot of these Tesla owners that signed up for the waitlist will bail when they realize it's less of a tech car and more of a driver's car and a lot of...
Of those teaser photos, all but the one from the rear could conceivably come from the unveiled version of the mule car. The side and front shots match up very closely to the latest "spy" photos.
The shot from the rear, well, there's no way that's going to be production. I'm guessing it will be...
With the "reveal" that the Taycan has a true trunk and not the Panamera style hatch, I think the Turismo could end up being the more popular version.
I've probably been swayed over.
This is exactly what I thought. Super happy to (hopefully) see them go with the more sports car color palette rather than the mostly generic Panamera colors.
Aventurine Green for my green car and I'll be a happy camper.
They're not going to run a mule on the streets without fake exhaust tips. Right now they can kind of trick cars behind them but remove exhaust tips and EVERYONE behind them would start snapping photos.
I think the mules have nice form, size and posture. It really wont take much in the form of...
I really think most, if not all, people on a wait list will get the chance for a very early allocation.
Lots of Tesla owners on the list and a lot of those people will decide to stick with Tesla, IMO.
The Taycan isn't going to reinvent EVs. It's just going to be a nicer, more driver focused...
Very interesting.
This certainly does lend to the belief that the production car will be very close to the mules, ie.. fairly good looking but pretty damn generic.
Can anyone with more sleuthing skills than I make out any previously unknown details from these photos?
