  1. Taycan real world Range

Just for the record, the Taycan lap was done in a private session with a professional test driver. The Model 3 lap was done in a public session with an owner driving the car. How many deposit holders here think they can turn a 7:42 in their Taycan?
  2. Taycan real world Range

OK, if you prefer we can compare the EPA range of the 5 passenger Audi e-tron SUV and 5 passenger Jaguar I-Pace crossover with the larger 7 passenger Tesla Model X: e-tron 95 kWh - 204 miles I-Pace 90 kWh - 234 miles Model X SR 85 kWh - 250 miles Model X LR 100 kWh - 325 miles Note that the...
  3. Taycan real world Range

The Audi e-tron and Jaguar I-Pace are using the latest pouch/prismatic cells. They have 95 kWh and 90 kWh batteries respectively. The e-tron has an EPA range of 204 miles. The iPace range is 234 miles. Both source their cells from LG Chem, as does Porsche. Is LG Chem reserving some super duper...
  4. Taycan real world Range

It's important when comparing range numbers that it is an apples-to-apples comparison. There are 3 "standards" for comparing range, two European (NEDC and WLTP) and one US (EPA). NEDC is the least stringent and therefore gives the highest numbers. EPA is the most stringent and gives the lowest...
  5. Taycan real world Range

Well you may consider it nonsense, but let's look at the facts. Tesla is on their 3rd or 4th generation depending on how you count in the following BEV drivetrain components: - battery cells, modules, and cooling - electric motors - inverters Each succeeding generation has shown more efficiency...
  6. Taycan Preorders About to Hit 30,000

In case anyone missed it the Model S Performance with Ludicrous (0-60 in 2.4 sec) now costs $100K with AutoPilot included. I expect the $150K Taycan Turbo S to appeal to the sports car oriented buyer. I expect the less expensive Model S which has more interior room and cargo space to appeal to...
  7. Taycan Design Q&A with Head of Style Porsche

https://newsroom.porsche.com/en/2019/company/porsche-taycan-exterior-sketches-michael-mauer-interview-17991.html I saw this interview on the Porsche site and don't remember seeing it posted here. A couple of interesting comments IMO: Notice the use of the term "sports car" not "sports sedan"...
  8. Video! Taycan interior / displays / instrument cluster

I really doubt Porsche is going to call some feature "AutoPilot".
  9. Taycan real world Range

Part of what is missing from this discussion is that those cars cost $35K-$70K. For the first year the Taycan is going to cost $130,000+. For that money you should be able to "have it all" - looks, performance, handling, and range.
  10. Taycan real world Range

What exactly is Ford bringing to the table in such a partnership? They are industry laggards in both EV's and autonomy.
  11. Automobile Mag Taycan review: The Porsche Taycan Turbo Redefines Speed and Acceleration

If it performs like a 911 you can be sure Porsche will price it like a 911.
  12. Automobile Mag Taycan review: The Porsche Taycan Turbo Redefines Speed and Acceleration

310 miles of range is for the even more optimistic NEDC cycle, not WLTP. From an official Porsche press release at the time of the Geneva auto show in March: https://www.porsche.com/international/aboutporsche/pressreleases/pag/?lang=none&pool=international-de&id=530113 According to one source...
  13. Automobile Mag Taycan review: The Porsche Taycan Turbo Redefines Speed and Acceleration

The pricing is not off. It is the same pricing that was given to journalist Alex Roy. Porsche can't yet produce the Taycan at the same cost as they can produce the Panamera and they don't want to lose money on it.
  14. Automobile Mag Taycan review: The Porsche Taycan Turbo Redefines Speed and Acceleration

The performance of the Taycan Turbo sounds awesome, albeit at a price of $140K+. It doesn't sound like Porsche wants to/will sell very many of the entry version given its specs: 80kWh battery, 322 HP, RWD only and a $90K+ price tag.
  15. Taycan drops camo revealing headlights, tail lights, rear side window

Tesla is not going bankrupt. - Tesla has already sold 500K cars - Tesla has the highest owner satisfaction of any brand, displacing Porsche in the Consumer Reports survey and holding the top spot for 5 years - If Tesla needs more capital there are plenty of investors who will step up to provide...
  16. Taycan drops camo revealing headlights, tail lights, rear side window

Porsche has made this disappointment much worse because they have repeatedly used images of the Mission e when talking about the Taycan even as recently as a month ago. It's no wonder so many people are disillusioned.
  17. Porsche released the latest design sketch of the Taycan from the design studio in Weissach today

Good point. I hadn't noticed that, but can now see it in the closeup photo of the charging port.
  18. Porsche released the latest design sketch of the Taycan from the design studio in Weissach today

I suggest looking carefully again at all of the winter testing photos in this article. You can clearly see where things have been taped on and where there are production components. The headlight covers are taped on, the front fenders are not. They have production fit and finish with the hood...
  19. Porsche released the latest design sketch of the Taycan from the design studio in Weissach today

Since first deliveries of the Taycan are promised for 9 months from now, do we really expect the final product to differ from the cars seen testing other than where the camo is attached? In other words do we expect a different body shape by having different front and rear quarter panels...
  20. 2020 Porsche Taycan Price?

The information from the CEO is not inconsistent with what I posted: low $90,000's base model < €100,000 entry-level model. Combining these two sources my interpretation is: - the first available version will cost at least $112K - the smaller battery version to come at a later time will cost at...
