The first couple of times you stop at a public DC fast charger will probably be a little stressful too. I'd recommend going a couple of times in your local area before you leave on the long roadtrip. Planning more stops than you need to will also make the early trips more comfortable - tell the...
I've really been enjoying these entertaining tales of our current charging infrastructure, especially as a fellow New Englander. Good travel writing is worth a detour.
My 2025 Taycan hasn't charged at 11KW since the big software update back in December. It tops out at 9.5KW now. I've not seen any statement from Porsche about this, nor did my dealership have any information, but I don't think I'm alone in this. There's a thread about it.
But 7.3KW isn't 9.5KW...
I regularly get 300+KW at EA stations with new hardware, as long as I'm not power sharing. But they need more stalls.
I haven't been to one of these yet, but there's a new 20-stall BPPulse station close to Logan Airport in Boston, with a plugscore of 10. This is surely a good sign.
I always used to avoid stopping on road trips, but I have to admit I've been enjoying the 10-15 minute stops that come with long trips in the EV, even if most of them are just in ugly parking lots. Some part of that is really foolish: I like admiring the car from the outside. But I'm not above a...
This past weekend I had a couple of chances to charge the Taycan at a new Mercedes High-Speed Charger. Specifically, the one that just opened in South Windsor CT, just off i84. MB is using Alpitronics 400KW chargers, and this was my first time charging from one of those. I thought I'd write a...
My 25 4s has been in this state for a little over a week. The app is unable to fetch the car's current SoC, plan routes, or perform any other remote functions because the car isn't able to report anything to Porsche's servers. Today, the red light next to the SOS button on the headliner came on...
This might be a stupid suggestion, but you never know: have you tried disabling the option for moving the seat & steering wheel on power up and then re-enabling it? (I can't remember what that option is called in the PCM, but I'm pretty sure it's there).
For those experiencing rattles from the doors, you may be experiencing the tolerance problem, where the midrange driver is coming into contact with the plastic grille right above the armrest. I had this problem with my Bose system, but it sounds like it can affect Burmester too. There's a TSB...
That's certainly good to know. This car has about 15K km on it now, and mostly gets A/C charged at home. Thanks for this tool! I'll be very curious to see what else it can do in the future, but this is a great start.
In our case most of the time the stations were half-full. That meant we could get our own head unit and not have to load share (though you can't always tell how the sharing is set up). I think only in Philly were we the only car at the chargers.
I agree about canopies, especially as (in my...
If I remember right, we were sharing a unit at the EA in Walmart in Frederick and at the Love's Travel stop. In Frederick it made a noticeable difference - we got 60kWh in 19m there, or 189 kW average. Out of curiosity I looked to see how much current the other vehicle was pulling, and it was...
This past weekend we took the Taycan down to West Virginia for a wedding, and as this was my longest road trip in the EV so far I thought I'd write up some notes on it, since I've enjoyed everyone else's trip reports on this forum.
Our first charging stop on this trip was at an EVGo outside a...
I can confirm 2) happens to me occasionally also. I'm guessing maybe it happens when the car doesn't detect that the key is inside before the door is closed, but it could just be a bug in some software too.
This may be relevant for some of us: https://static.nhtsa.gov/odi/tsbs/2025/MC-11015078-0001.pdf
I had some rattles from the doors at higher volumes too, and I removed the passenger front door car in order to add more sound deadening. From the factory, there's a strip of CLD (constrained layer...
