Battery Disconnect
OROVEL
The image below is not a Taycan battery pack (possibly as Chevrolet Bolt), though it does note "Battery Disconnection" location as "on top of the cover (Porsche Taycan)."
Yup, seems to be the nature of the beast for my PCM as well. Waiting on CarPlay and stability of CarPlay is quite frustrating, especially when I reach my destination before it connects.
I find it ironic as Tesla EVs are generally much more efficient vehicles yet they lose charge much quicker the than the Taycan. I am guessing this has do to not only with Sentry Mode but possibly the more connected Tesla vehicle network receiving/reporting data even when Sentry Mode and Cabin...
Thank you so much for the mansplanation. I choose the words "major safety issue" and you graciously defined them for me, though the definition does not exist in the NHTSA Glossary of Highway Safety Terms and Definitions I will just go back to doing the dishes now and forget about what NHTSA and...
Yes, my car has the issue. Cars that did not have the PCM did not have CANBUS systems which relied so heavily on it for driving functions; they generally had a head unit that might have navigation and possibly a back-up camera.
If this PCM issue is not related to safety, why the NHTSA recall...
Latest Recall
There is no available remedy at the moment. It has caused a stop sale of new Taycans as well. Other may believe this recall is not a major safety issue, however, I would disagree. Cameras, vehicle settings, and navigation are all critical in a vehicle like the Taycan.
It really depends on how well Porsche responds to the most recent recall. Two recalls affected my Taycan in less than 6 months; most recently being a major safety issue.
Over the past 5 years our 2017 Model S has had zero recalls and no major safety issues; embarrassing Porsche. Outstanding...
The full 93.4 kWh of the battery is not available to use. The bottom and top buffers are quite large. Approximately 83.7 kWh is usable in the battery pack.

It will be fine either way. Leaving it plugged-in offers the benefit of being able to add charge if needed prior to arrival.
It is amazing how well the Taycan maintains its charge when compared to our Model S.
Recently charged to 100% for a short road trip and the Taycan (RWD) projected 281 miles. Based on the driving I did 40% state roads below 65 MPH and 60% interstate above 70 MPH, the actual range was closer to 300 miles.
