Groundhog (or more likely a Raccoon) 0, Taycan -$17.8k (damage)

My takeaway is that if you have the choice of hitting something that would fit under the front undercarriage (like a groundhog) or something that wouldn't (like a babyless pram), aim at the taller thing and let the bumper take the impact.

    Steering on rear wheels

Assuming you're planning on getting a new model, it's probably worth reconfirming that what I'm about to describe is still true. If it is, though, you might want to consider not optioning Remote Park Assist. I agree with all of the other people who said (a) Rear Axle Steering makes the...

Groundhog (or more likely a Raccoon) 0, Taycan -$17.8k (damage)

I'm not intending to suggest that this piece is particularly worthy of attention, and have not bothered to watch any of the embedded videos. That being said, the two still photos and the diagram underneath them purporting to talk about the Taycan look to me like there is a lot of coolant-related...

    Base Spec Musts (UK)

Three caveats: 1. Everything surrounding color is totally subjective. 2. The following story involves two cars with relatively dark exterior paint in early evening / dusk. 3. The judges are relatively short (160-165cm). That being said, I have a friend with a black GTS who drove down from...

    2025 Taycan Delivery Delays?

I would think it might be easier to predict when something will get from Germany to Belgium than it is for a Seattle destination. The Panama Canal can get crowded. I was in roughly OP's position a little over one year ago. Production was completed around the end of October, I just found out...

Is it just me, or did your Taycan come with an unrequested, always-on tracking device called StarGard?

My understanding is that in California, it is illegal to use these devices to track people without the consent of the registered owner of the vehicle. I would assume this also would mean that insurance companies may not require it as a condition of underwriting.

"Don't drive an EV in [or to] Los Angeles unless you can charge at home" - Kyle video

People say that Cowschwitz is the most reliable charging spot.

🎨 PTS: PAINT TO SAMPLE Taycan Club & Photos Thread

I believe you have to be even more hardcore and go through what they call the Sonderwunsch program in order to get something similar. I'll say this: my SA did not point me at any sort of special badge or decal.

    Auto Regen?

In that case, perhaps your father simply happened to walk through an elderberry thicket on the day I encountered him in the village square. And I think hamsters are quite cute, so it was intended as a compliment to your mother.

Minimum Spec for a USED Taycan.

Sorry, I thought the initial part of my comment made it clear that I'm firmly in the camp of people who have absolutely zero concern for anybody else's opinion about my car.

    Auto Regen?

I consider that a different argument from the one that I was addressing. I was referring more to comments along the lines of "I don’t see why they can’t just let us decide for ourselves how we want to drive" - I thought that did not consider the opportunity cost of implementing the feature.

Minimum Spec for a USED Taycan.

Others have already covered the whole "why are you prioritizing some stranger's desires over your own?" aspect of all of this, so I'll take a different tack. There is literally no universal "must have" option. Yes, even the larger battery. It adds extra weight and expense. If you are one of...

    Auto Regen?

My problem with the "'let a hundred flowers bloom" argument is opportunity cost. I would rather have engineers working on other things. Yes, that's selfish and inconsiderate on my part, because it prioritizes things that I care about over things (like emulating Tesla's "one-pedal" system) that I...

    Purple Taycan

Eye of the beholder and all that, but the first step in my journey to having a Taycan at all, and especially a purple one, was parking next to a BMW M2 in what they call Thundernight Metallic. It's hard to tell from photos, but it looks to me like @muddyducky's color is relatively close to...

"New & Used Porsche Taycans Are Becoming Cheaper, Should You Buy One?" - Article

Several of my roommates were in the same introductory economics course, and we all found it frustrating that there was no catchy unit for measuring utility. So we came up with the util, which was defined as the first sip of beer after exercise on a hot day.

"New & Used Porsche Taycans Are Becoming Cheaper, Should You Buy One?" - Article

The reply above mine is written by somebody who is an actual rockstar economist, so read that one first. The way I look at it is in order for me to regret the purchase, the price has to fall more than the amount of value (measured in units of happiness) that I derive from ownership of the...

On off button on Taycan dangerous?

I guess this is subjective, because I also eschewed all of the semi-quasi-autonomous features on the Taycan, but I'm not interested in machines making important decisions by themselves.

On off button on Taycan dangerous?

I tend to do this as well, especially when I am arriving somewhere quiet, because that kills the audio before I open the door.
