I certainly agree with you on the Taycan, but couldn't disagree more on the Cybertruck. It reminds me of a cross between a Pontiac Aztek and a doorstop . Makes me think the Tesla fanboys will buy anything the company makes. I'm interested to see if the pickup looks more conventional...
I saw this on the PCA website; amazing to see how the cars are assembled. The attention to detail is incredible. Would love to see how this compares to how a Tesla is built...
Great review; thanks for posting. One of the few I've seen that brings up the difference in quality between Porsche and Tesla. My favorite part of the review:
Just look at it. It looks exactly like the first all-electric Porsche should. Wait until you feel the way the doors shut. It's built...
Small correction. Tesla makes their own battery packs, but not the cells. Panasonic produces the cells for them, although it seems to be something Tesla wants to move in-house (at least as of late June):

Musk says a lot of things... If they have any chance of survival, I suggest them concentrating on their quality issues rather than adding fart and goat horn sounds :-)
Ok. I appreciate your explanation, and I see your point of view. Where you and I differ is I don't view the tradeoffs that Porsche made as "fundamental mistakes". I'm an engineer; I pay more to own things that are over-engineered. Where some may think that Porsche (and most likely Audi)...
Smarter engineers and better battery technology? Still can't figure why some are OK with buying the Taycan if you think anything from Tesla is better engineered?
How many people are looking at a 4 door family car with the thought of hooning it around a track. Porsche are doing these tests to demonstrate what their new car is capable of because they feel it makes a difference to their clientle. And I can't imagine the fact that Tesla did a great time...
So evidently you have some inside info regarding the "plaid" powertrain since it will blow the Taycan Turbo S away? More unsubstantiated fanboy BS. Just like the Tesla being the "clear leader in EV technology". If you really believe that, why would you consider Porsche and not just buy...
If this isn't a production car like the Taycan, are they trying to compete with the VW ID.R, which I think holds the record for fastest EV around the Nordschleife? While I occasionally read eletrek.co for entertainment since it's one of many biased websites catering to the Tesla fanboys, I...
Thanks for the information. I had heard about Jerome Guillen getting appointed, but he seems to keep a very low profile compared to Musk (which may be a good thing).
Thanks for posting. The amount of automation is absolutely incredible, as is their attention to detail. Gives a good feeling as to what Porsche has been doing since the time the Mission-E debuted in 2015.
I get the impression there may be a higher-end Taycan GT or GTS variant in the future, but that be something they would release if lighter-weight batteries become available. If this is the case, it seems to me the Taycan release somewhat follows what Porsche did with the Cayman. In 2006 they...
Interesting read. Explains the lower range has to do with tradeoffs made to help increase long-term battery life, not that their battery/motor technology is inferior.

Thanks for posting. I've had the pleasure of visiting the factory in Zuffenhausen in 1999 and again in 2012 (obviously before the new additions for the Taycan production). The attention to detail is just as you'd expect from Porsche. And you could eat off the floor (if you're so inclined...
You bring up a number of good points. My gut feel is that Porsche has overengineered the Taycan like they do their ice vehicles; while many people won't hoon them around a track, it's a great selling point to say that you can. They have also put something like 3.7 million miles of testing on...
