? “loss leader” as in “only 20% margin”, maybe?
Tbf, I’m sure the R&D for the “platform” (drivetrain, for whatever that includes in a BEV) is in the billions, before counting in the new factory. But that was distributed across their Le Mans project, the Formula E effort, the Taycan, Macan EV...
Audi. Look at the shape of the rear lights - the ending splits in a fishtail/chevron reminiscent of the e-tron GT’s. The pronounced rake of the upper trunk edge, and some of the visible taillight does suggest BMW, but it’s also too busy (lots of little leds, very Audi).
That’s probably on the outgoing/current model, because you’d have to be mad to pay even 80% of msrp for what will soon be 80% of a new car.
Also goes to show the huge profit margin built into this car.
I think @f1eng also mentioned the stabilizing aspect of a rear wing, which mass alone/unaided won’t address. The Taycan’s shape does not seem to produce enough downforce - on the contrary, seems to be designed for minimal air resistance. At the higher speeds that this model is capable of, the...
Welcome @The Noid and enjoy!
Excellent answers above, but that won't stop me:
1. Tie-khan (or, as it's spelled!), and Por-sheh (as it's spelled!).
2. Uh, no..? (looks sideways) (we don't talk about that here, on a public forum..)
5. Please charge and use the car as you need. 100% isn't...
It’d be kinda drafty, no?
They said something about these new colors being exclusive to the turbo GT trims for a year. Not clear if they become PTS after, or will just be standard/no-cost options. (To help with depreciation, naturally.)
There’s nothing to strip out of a Tesla..?
(And as it’s been pointed out repeatedly, the Weissach package is the removal of rear seats etc. Done throughout Porsche history, typically on R/RS/T models.)
BMW, like most of the time?
(ducks, runs)
It was just paraphrasing, the brand was substituted (to protect the innocent ?).(The original is, mot a mot: “if I wanted to drive Mercedes, I’d take a taxi”.)
You seem to be willing to spend vast sums on cars. Evidently that doesn’t bring a greater understanding of how car design or manufacturing actually works.
The cost of developing and certifying a Taycan coupe would have probably been 3-4 orders of magnitude greater than the most optimistic sales...
The following are true:
- Taycan turbo GT has 4 seats
- Taycan turbo GT w/ WP has slightly more bonkers perf, 2 seats
- the price is the same
So what, exactly, is the problem? On other 911 models, current or past/historical, the 'lightweight' models could have their removed rear...
Sounds like you missed the news on the Macan EV? It's true that Porsche are dragging the Taycan upmarket, but that's to create room for the lower models. A full-spec Macan EV turbo would spank a base Taycan anywhere at any time, and cost less or about the same. That's, IMO, "delivering more"...
That’s a very pronounced bend in the outlet cable of the Grizzl-e, you may want to relocate it.
And no, evse charging (at least with the pmc+) won’t show in the app. The grizzlee should have an app/show you charging history - connectivity and interoperability is one of their claims.
Lastly...
Yes, and that would make sense for a limited-run model (usually the turbo S, GTS are introduced late, the ‘Classic’ or other one-off models etc.)
