START: 2 minutes of preheat before leaving, charged to 100% in the morning, spent 20% until noon, car sat at 80% until leaving in the evening. Temperature max 2.5C instantly dropping to 1C, hovering around 0C 90% of the way with a minimum of...
Awhile back a friend took this picture of my car, sent it to me saying I should name it KITT. Not knowing I’ve already given it that name even before the order was placed.
I will do this route tomorrow evening and report back.
Tonight I will charge to 100% this time to see if that will help the BMS get its bearings and see what I get for C*D/BP=NBC
C = Consumption (KWh/100km)
D = Distance (km)
BP = Battery Percentage used
NBC = Nett Battery Capacity (KWh)
Every couple of weeks I do a drive which is exactly 182km long on roads that don’t allow for much variation in driving style. I use this trip to gauge different setups and external conditions and their effect on consumption. Since 2022 all these trips have been extremely consistent differing by...
This plastic looks like is only transparent in Near infrared and only 37% on average across 310-2130nm
The spectrum useful for thermal cameras is Long Wave IR (LWIR) which is 8000-14000nm (8-14um) and germanium has an average transmission of >99% in this range with almost no scattering...
Doesn’t work, most materials out there block or scatter IR in the 8-14nm range. You could try putting brown PET, plastic bottles is a good source for this, but the signal will be attenuated, PET is not as transparent to IR as germanium is.
Side note: the camera inside has the necessary filter...
See my post on the first page.
Fits like a glove and works the same as the original.
While you wait for a replacement, try to wrap the camera with some cling film and a strong rubber band to avoid any moisture getting in. The camera inside isn’t waterproof and to get a new one it is a...
While browsing for winter tyres to replace my NF0 Pirelli Winters, I came across this:
20 inch NF0 Taycan homologated Michelin Pilot Aplin 5! These are some of the best long lasting winter tyres I've driven on, they hold up their snow abilities constant during their whole life, unlike the...
Those are active IR, they have IR blasters in the headlights and look for the near IR reflection those wavelengths can pass through glass. The system on the taycan is passive meaning it can ‘see’ only heat emitted by whatever it is pointed at. A body in the 38C temperature range emits mid IR...
Try these guys. Found them while dealing with the same thing. The thermal camera is made by Flir from 2002 and they used to offer this repair kit but the whole thing has been discontinued. The DLC coating is towards the outside.
@911Taycan It probably was the onboard charger that caused the breakers to open in your house, and not the other way around. It is a common issue with the early 22KW onboard chargers and the ones they fit now have a different part number. I've had mine replaced under warranty and the failure was...
After clocking exactly 50,000 km (which is very impressive) on the original NF0 Michelin Pilot Sport 4 tires, they were in desperate need for a change. Wear was pretty even although slightly more on the inside of the fronts. Instead of sticking with the same model, I saw an opportunity to try...
